Garage in north-west London listed as a ‘terraced property’ goes on the market for £25,000 (the same as a two-bed family home in Middlesbrough)

  • Garage in Kilburn, north west London, was listed for £25,000 on Rightmove – the same price as some houses
  • In comparison to other garages or parking spaces for sale in the capital, the £25,000 spot is not atypical
  • However, in some parts of the country home hunters may not have to spend that much on their homes.
  • In January two-bedroom semi-detached house in Middlesbrough went on the market for £25,000

A garage was described as a ‘terraced property’ in an online listing with an asking price of £25,000 – the same as a two-bedroom home in Middlesbrough.

Rightmove’s property listings website revealed that what appeared to be a luxuriously priced home in Kilburn in north London was actually a parking space at a reasonable price for London.

Similar listings for garages in highly-demanded parts of London could cost up to four times that much. Underground parking spaces can be more expensive.

Description of the Kilburn garage reads, “The property is convenient situated on Willesden Lane just moments from Willesden Green Station. All amenities are within easy reach.”

In comparison to other garages or parking spaces for sale in the capital, the £25,000 spot is not atypical, but in other parts of the country house hunters could expend to buy their own home for that much.

In January this year a two-bedroom semi-detached house in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, went on the market for £25,000 – one tenth the cost of the average property in the UK, and just under half for the average semi-detached property.

House hunters looking on the Rightmove property listing website could well have been disappointed to discover that what they thought was a very generously-priced home in Kilburn, north west London, was in fact a fairly normally priced - for the capital - parking spot

Rightmove is a property listing site that houses buyers may have found disappointing. What they believed was a large-scale home in Kilburn (northwest London) was actually quite normal priced for the capital.

Londoners are forced to pay a premium for their parking spaces and storage space.

Earlier this year, a £350,000 parking spot in Knightsbridge was dubbed the most expensive in the whole UK – costing the same as a five-bedroom detached family home in Sheffield.

London’s underground parking lot measured 20 feet in length and featured a garage porter daily and CCTV.
