George was the latest to leave the tent during Tuesday’s episode of The Great British Bake Off, where it was caramel week.

After failing to impress Prue Leith (34), and Paul Hollywood (36), with his caramel tart and biscuit bars, the father-of-3 was eliminated.

Paul hilariously commented that the chocolate coated biscuit bar he created during the Technical challenge was bottom of the leaderboard.

Lizzie, who had a lackluster dessert sugar dome Showstopper, was also in the mix.

George got off to a rocky start in the Signature challenge where he made a disastrous banana and caramel tart with curdled custard and melted cream.

He then came bottom in the Technical, commenting afterwards: ‘I don’t think that could have gone any worse!’

George said that after his elimination, he felt a bitter sweetness. My showstopper was something I was proud about, but the rest wasn’t so great.

“But my family are so proud, I’m even in a tent and I’ve had a great time!”

Paul explained his decision by saying that he made more errors than Lizzie in the end.

Amanda, 56, and George, 34, both struggled while creating a pastry terrine pie for the Showstopper challenge.

Both pies took too much time to cook and collapsed after being removed from the oven.

Amanda was ultimately the one to be sent packing. After her elimination, she said, “You’ve got gotta go some time, haven’t you?”
