The four-year-old great-niece of George Floyd has been shot in her bed, during a ‘targeted attack’ on her Texas apartment in the middle of the night.

Arianna Delane will survive, but she had to have surgery in Houston this weekend because bullets tore through her liver and lung. She was left with three fractured ribs.

Police have so far not provided any details or revealed the motive for the shooting. Family members have stated they have a clue as to who started the fire but have not commented further about a motive.

'My daughter jumped up and said, 'Daddy, I been hit,'' her father, Derrick Delane, pictured, said

Numerous bullets were fired at the residence, causing damage to walls and doors.

At around 3AM on Saturday, gunshots were randomly fired by the suspects in the family’s second-floor home. 

Six people were present at the south Houston property when the shooting took place. Four adults and two children had fallen asleep. Arianna was in her front bedroom.

According to Derrick Delane of ABC 13, “My daughter jump up and says, Daddy, I was hit.” 

Delane said that she was stunned to see the blood, and then realized her four-year old daughter had been hit. She didn’t understand what was going on. “She was sleeping.”

Delane expressed his hope that Delane’s daughter will still have the opportunity to pursue her dream and become a cheerleader/dancer.  

“Why would you want to see my house burnt down?” Delane asked. Delane replied, “My daughter doesn’t know.” She doesn’t understand. The father is supposed to be protective of his children.

She’s making great progress. Last time she checked, she was still breathing. Delane spoke of Delane’s relief at her progress. 

Family members also claim that police didn’t arrive at their homes until seven o’clock in the morning, four hours after the incident. 

Investigating the reasons for this delay in police response is currently underway. 

“I’m aware of the delay in responding to this incident, and I have opened an Internal Affairs investigation. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner stated that he asked for assistance in providing the information necessary to bring the suspect or suspects to justice.

Through her grandmother LaTonya who was George’s sister, she was related to George.

Floyd, who was arrested for trying to use a $20 counterfeit bill to buy cigarettes from a grocery store, was shot and killed May 25, 2020.

His triggered protests around the globe  against racism and police brutality.

Floyd exclaimed, “I can’t breath!” Over and over, Floyd cried out “I can’t breathe!” These words were a rallying call for protestors all over the globe. 

In Floyd’s murder, Chauvin was found guilty in second-degree murder and third-degree murder.  

Tou Thao and Thomas Lane were also fired by the police, who failed to act when Floyd was killed.
