Just a week before Ghislaine Maxwell goes to trial for sex trafficking of minors in Manhattan, her tech CEO spouse Scott Borgerson has surfaced hundreds of miles away in Manchester-by-the-Sea, where he was seen for the first time in over a year by DailyMail.com.

Borgerson drove up in his fancy sports car to the oceanside liquor shop on a warm Thursday afternoon and bought two Marlboro Lights packs.

DailyMail.com clerk said that he tried to talk to him but was not interested in having a conversation. “He just came in with his ideas.”

After emerging from Harrigan’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Borgerson, sporting a blue face mask and Patagonia jacket, darted toward his $100,000 Tesla Model S as a DailyMail.com reporter approached.

Borgerson groaned “Leave it alone” and reached for his cellphone, waving at the reporter to capture the ‘harassment.

As he got into his car, the wealthy entrepreneur didn’t answer any questions. He then sped off in his electric vehicle, retreating from a life of solitude that he has struggled to sustain since his wife, a 14-year-old, was taken into custody by federal agents and charged with procuring girls for Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell is facing six weeks in Federal Court, New York. It will concern alleged abuses and the procurement of young women. If she is convicted, Maxwell faces over 80 years imprisonment.

Recent resignation by Borgerson from CargoMetrics’ CEO position in Boston was made to “ensure that his presence wouldn’t become a distraction” from the work in which he is so passionate about, according to the statement.

However, Maxwell, 44, has not been able escape the anger of neighbours who still hate him. Maxwell was even taken to jail for possible life-long confinement.

Speaking from her 10ft by 12ft prison cell inside New York's notorious Metropolitan Detention Center, Maxwell said: 'I have been assaulted and abused for almost a year and a half'

Maxwell, speaking from her 10-foot by 12-foot prison cell in New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center said that Maxwell had been subject to abuse and harassment for more than a year.

‘Every time I see him, I give him the middle finger,’ said a man whose relative is the  property manager of the 40-acre estate where Borgerson lives. “But I don’t see him much anymore.

Maxwell was staying with Maxwell at a 7-bedroom house in Sharksmouth. The estate is located in a small, wealthy town about 30 miles north-east of Boston.

DailyMail.com revealed Maxwell’s Manchester home last August. Borgerson said that Maxwell had moved in with him.

She actually lived in the house for almost a year and only moved out in December 2019. Tuckedaway is a private home located two hours from Bradford in New Hampshire. FBI agents detained her in that home during an early-morning raid, July 2, 2020.

Borgerson was arrested on August 1, 2009. He has not been seen in the area since then. Locals say that they only see Borgerson at the local convenience and pizza shop once a month. He almost never enters local bars and restaurants.

Borgerson is yet to decide if he will travel to New York for the trial to support his wife.

There remain questions regarding the nature of their relationship.

The couple was married according to the prosecution, although it was kept secret from close family members.

DailyMail.com cannot locate any marriage or divorce licenses in their respective towns or counties.

There are indications, however that Borgerson might have left his private life behind. DailyMail.com has learned that Borgerson was dating a local woman. DailyMail.com approached the woman to verify or denial a relationship.

Neighbors were so disgusted when they discovered in February 2019 that an accused sex trafficker was living among them that they tried to harass Maxwell into leaving

Maxwell’s neighbors were disgusted to learn that Maxwell had been living with an accused sex trader in their neighborhood since February 2019.

Rebecca Borgerson, Borgerson’s ex, lives just one town away, with their two children (a girl and a boy, 13 and 10 years respectively).

Borgerson, a former U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant-commander, is believed to have met Maxwell over eight years ago through speaking engagements connected to ocean preservation, a subject on which they share a passion.

Both were pictured in 2013 speaking at Reykjavik’s Arctic Circle Assembly, Iceland.

Borgerson divorced his wife Rebecca (pictured) in December 2015 after she discovered his relationship with Maxwell

After Maxwell discovered their relationship, Borgerson split from Rebecca (pictured).

At the time, he and Rebecca were still married. He told Rebecca he would give a speech at London, but she found out he was actually in Miami with Maxwell.

They divorced in December 2015.

Borgerson bought the home in Manchester-by-the-Sea in June 2016. They were not able to make peace within their community after Maxwell arrived. After discovering that Maxwell had been accused of being a sex-trafficker, their neighbors became so upset that they attempted to intimidate her outright.

One resident stated that they felt sex trading and pedophilia were the worst things on the planet and wanted to get them off their property.

The case led to Borgerson winning a court battle against the neighbor’s decision to prohibit them from using beaches and paths near their oceanfront property. This was part of an estate that is shared with other owners. However, the court decision wasn’t handed down until Maxwell had moved to New Hampshire, where she was living a life in solitude.

DailyMail.com was told by another resident that Maxwell and Borgerson had met on many occasions. He said that Borgerson frequently spoke about his desire to be President of the United States. ‘His relationship with Ghislaine has pretty much scuppered that — and I’m glad,’ he said.

“He’s a personable and bright individual, and he’s very intelligent. But he’s also incredibly narcissistic, completely in love with money, power, and himself.”

Rebecca Maxwell was a Christian ex-wife who made an effort to get along with Maxwell. Rebecca felt that it was easier to forgive than to keep anger. “She believes the Bible teaches us kindness. According to one friend, they met many times. “They were so cordial and friendly to one another.”

Potential jurors were vetted by Judge Alison Nathan in court last week ahead of Ghislaine Maxwell's sex trafficking trial later this month

Maxwell (59) appeared before Judge Alison Nathan in New York on Tuesday. She questioned many potential jurors who would decide Maxwell’s fate in the coming months.

Opening statements won’t begin until November 29th, when the selection process will be complete. It is anticipated that the trial will last until mid-January.

Maxwell, 59, spoke to The Mail on Sunday for the first time about her ‘living hell’ behind bars – claiming that she has been assaulted and abused by prison guards, purposely deprived of sleep and given rotting food to eat.

Maxwell had her $28million bail request denied last week for the fourth consecutive time. Maxwell also claimed that negative media coverage and deliberate withholding evidence made it impossible for her to have a fair trial.

Maxwell, speaking from her 10-foot-by-12-foot prison cell in New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center where she spent 16 months in isolation, said, ‘I’ve been assaulted, abused, and tortured for nearly a year.

‘I have never eaten a nutritious dinner in my entire life. I haven’t slept without lights on – fluorescent lights that have damaged my eyes – or been allowed to sleep without constant interruptions.

‘I am weak, I am frail. I don’t have the stamina. I am tired. Even my shoes don’t fit me properly. They give me bad food. One of the apples contained maggots. “I have been forbidden to exercise.”

Maxwell faces the rest of her life behind bars if convicted of abusing and procuring young girls for billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein – charges that she vehemently denies.

The lawyer for Epstein will argue that she is being penalized by proxy because someone has to pay.

Maxwell shared this with friends: “I fear that it will prove impossible to obtain a fair trial. I fear the media will spread negative stories about Maxwell and influence the outcome of my trial. Despite the fact that the evidence will prove that the jury didn’t know everything, it is a frightening thought.

“I am looking forward to having the opportunity to testify in court that I did not participate in Epstein’s crimes.”
