The Girlguiding Board has launched an investigation against one of its Commissioners, a transwoman. She allegedly took a picture with a dominatrix-styled outfit and took a saucy photo.
Monica Sulley, bus driver, is a guiding commissar. In July, she oversees Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
Some feminist campaigners have been upset by her selection, who claim that bio-biological males who identify as women shouldn’t be allowed to lead the movement.
Campaigners looked into her past and found a photo on her Instagram account showing her wearing a short black Bondage-style dress, high heels, and holding a whip.
She was pictured in a corridor and the caption to her picture read: “Now be behave yourself or Mistress will have you punished #mistress.”
Campaigners investigated Monica Sulley’s history and discovered a photograph on her Instagram of her in a black short-dress with heels and a whip.
The bus driver, 58, reportedly became a guiding Commissioner in July this year, overseeing Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers in Southwell, Nottinghamshire
Another photo showed Ms. Sulley in tight black clothing, taking aim with what appeared to be an assault rifle and a concealed handgun.
A second photo showed Ms. Sulley in tight black clothing, taking aim with what appeared to be an assault rifle and a concealed handgun.
A third photo of her was taken with a sword, and a tweet picture showed off her large cleavage. The caption to the picture: “Boobs or wanted more?”
After Ms Sulley’s photos were published by feminist website 4W, Girlguiding began its investigation.
Angela Salt is Girlguiding’s CEO.
“We have strict recruitment and screening procedures and clear policies. We also have a code of conduct for volunteers to ensure the safety and well-being of our members.
“Girlguiding” is fully aware of the concerns. We will investigate this matter as an urgent matter.
The organisation spokeswoman said that she wouldn’t issue a statement for Ms. Sulley, who was also known as Monica Tetley on social media.
MailOnline reached out to Ms. Sulley to inquire about her social media status as “a trans woman married with a wonderful guy”.
The account on Instagram has been removed and the private setting of her Twitter account changed to reflect this.
Recent years have seen Girlguiding describe itself as being “girl-only” with a trans-inclusive equality and diversity policy.
Its website states that it treats trans women and girls according to their gender transitions or plans to do so. Transgender women and girls are both welcome to join our wonderful charity.
“The advantages Girlguiding offers of being fully inclusive are substantial. Girlguiding has a huge effect on young volunteers and members.
‘And it’s vital that trans girls and women – like all other girls and women – can contribute their experiences, time, commitment and skills to our charity.’
MailOnline contacted Ms. Sulley, who on social media describes herself as “a transwoman married to a great man” but she declined to respond.
Also, she was seen showing off her large cleavage.
Ms Sulley’s Instagram account has now been deleted and her Twitter account set to private settings
Anna Slatz, a feminist writer, described Ms. Sulley’s posts on social media as “disturbing” in an article she wrote for the 4W site.
She stated that while Girlguiding was focused on supporting children and their policies, the organisation was also encouraging adult males to be leaders in the organization. This allowed them to control the youth’s lives.
Ms. Slatz stated that Ms. Sulley was rebuffed by women’s rights activists as well as netizens worried about his inappropriate online conduct.
According to her, one user on social media questioned the involvement of Ms. Sulley in Girlguiding. He said that he was insensitive toward girls and women. My whole life has been managed without me being involved in Girlguiding, and since I am a woman it is not traumatic for me to do so.
A second user stated that Ms. Sulley’s appointment sent a “possibly damaging” message to young girls. It simply showed that males could easily gain control over women in certain spaces by simply identifying themselves as women.
4W reported that Ms. Sulley was also one of the 2,000 who signed a 2018 letter to Pride in London organizers. The protest letter sought to highlight how radical lesbians were allowed to hold an anti-trans demonstration at Pride.
To protest the attack on lesbian rights by the trans community, lesbians marched to the Pride march’s front behind giant Rainbow flags.
Aimee Challenor (transgender activist and former candidate for deputy leader of the Green party) wrote the letter that Ms. Sulley signed.
One month later, Ms. Challenor was expelled by the Green party over allegations that she had allowed her father David to act as her election agent 18 months after being charged with torturing and raping a ten year-old.
After being found guilty of “depraved” crimes at Warwick Crown Court, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison. He posed as a baby, tied the girl to a beam and whipped her before giving her electric shocks.
Later, Ms. Challenor quit after being accused of Transphobia by the Green party.
After two people objected, Girlguiding had to defend its trans-inclusive policies in September 2018.
At the time, this movement asserted that women who identify themselves as females could not join or lead group activities. This did not place girls in danger.
Helen Watts and another volunteer from Ealing were expelled by the organization after “a lot of complaints” were filed about them.
Ms. Watts is a Girlguiding veteran of 15 years. On Monday, she told BBC World At One that she was feeling’real loss’ at being banned from Girlguiding events, and not being able to contact her group.
In particular, when leaders and guides shared lavatories and showers, she insisted that girls should have the right to female-only spaces.
Ms Watts said that Girlguiding’s ‘effectively being a mixed-sex place’ could help adolescents cope with physical changes, bullying, harassment, and other forms of abuse.
