A 12-stone Great Dane who ‘thinks he’s a lapdog’ keeps wrecking the furniture by leaping on it for cuddles with its owners.
The hilarious footage of Larry, a three year old dog, trying to fit his six foot frame between the legs of his owner, the Kempen family in Outagamie County (Wisconsin), is quite funny.
So far his antics have cost them more than £2,000 after they had to replace three recliners.

Video of Ken Kempen (40), a father-of-three, lying on his couch until Larry, a troublesome 3-year-old, jumps onto his lap
The video was posted on Ken Kempen’s Instagram account with 103,000 followers on November 11. It shows Ken Kempen (40), relaxing on the couch until Larry, a troublesome 3-year-old, jumps onto his lap.
Ken shouts ‘oh s***’ before the Great Dane calmly stretches out to watch the TV.
Larry is seen more freely releasing his pained father and the last clip includes one of Larry’s daughters.
The footage of Larry leaping on Ken has been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
One person commented, “This is so cute!” This was actually quite distressing. Big dog who thinks he’s tiny.’
Another one said, “Oh Larry.” They say Danes are gentle giants… not jumping rabbits.’
Beth and Ken share a home with Madalynn Kempen (12 years old), Colin Kempen (16 years old), and Harley (16 year-old yorkie), while John Kempen (20 years) moved in earlier this year.
Beth Kempen and Ken (38 years old) live with Madalynn Kempen and Colin Kempen. They also have Harley (16 year-old yorkie), Harley (16-year-old) and Colin Kempen (16-16). John Kempen (20 years ago) was the first child to leave.
Larry was three times the size of his father when his family set up an Instagram page. In just three months, Larry had grown to be more than six feet tall and can stand on his hind legs.
His owners have forked out more than £2,000 after he broke foot stools, back rests and arms of three recliners.
They had to spend £1,000 on a ‘Larry-proof’ sofa capable of dealing with his antics.
This dog can reach the top of the fridge to get food. He even gets his own space in the house with a double bed.
Larry loves to snuggle the entire family, and the Great Dane makes them feel so spoiled.
Larry is a worldwide sensation. His ‘cute’ lap-dog mannerisms have made him a huge viral hit. Fans love to laugh with the reactions of his family.
Beth commented, “I thought Great Danes were large. But it is quite a change to live with such a big dog. He jumps when he’s ready.
You never know what he will do next and you won’t be able to stop him from doing it. If it’s a lap, it will be done to everyone in the family. He has to be the largest lap dog in the entire world.
“Everynight he will block the television. Ken will pull him from his lap, and then he’ll dive right in.
Larry’s family created an Instagram account to track his growth. Within three months, he had tripled his size. He is now 6ft tall when he stands on both his hind legs.
He is tall enough to eat from the refrigerator’s top shelf. The dog even has his own bedroom in the house with a double bed.
“He is bigger than Ken, so Ken must accept that. You get bruises and the jump gets worse at the end.
“My daughter cannot push him away so she stays there. You can get trapped under him if he is a bit gassy. It is necessary for her to seek help.
“She will be diligent in her research and Larry will lie to her. It was a difficult situation, but we were able to bear it. We probably would not have kept him for the first four months.
Ken always desired a bigger dog so Larry was purchased as a puppy. We thought that Larry would be too big to handle so we had to keep him close at all times.

“That kinda blew up in his faces because now, he needs be held constantly. When he was young, he grew to accept the affection. He made a terrible mistake when he was younger.
“This is our fourth recliner in the last three years. Larry has added his weight to the recliners, causing them to break down. It’s impossible for the chairs to withstand this.
“On one, its back was broken so that it could not sit straight. The foot stool on the other one became mangled and it couldn’t move up or down. Larry had the first one for a while, but he buckled his arm.
‘We spent £1,000 on the last one because they said it would last, but we’ll see. Their laughter came as they realized that we were looking for a product with good warranties.
“It bothered us initially, but now we are blaming ourselves. Although people claim that they could stop a dog as large as this one, there aren’t many things you can do to prevent him from jumping around the room.
“Despite our difficulties, Larry and I have met some amazing people through our page. “We wouldn’t want it any other way.”
