What’s wrong with nuts? A squirrel carrying an entire sesame seed bagel is spotted up a tree by a gracious squirrel.

  • Captured by David Freiheit on Boulevard Robert-Bourassa in Montréal, Canada
  • With the bagel in his mouth, the rodent tightropes on a power cable.
  • This comes just a few days after New York City’s viral series of fast-food-chomping rats became wildly popular

The moment that a squirrel took a whole sesame seed bagel and carried it up the tree is this.

The footage was captured by David Freiheit on November 7 while he was walking his dog on Boulevard Robert-Bourassa in Montréal, Canada.

In an effort that rivals New York’s fast food-chomping rats, the rodent tightropes along a power cable with the bagel in its mouth.

The video begins as Mr Freedom spots a grey squirrel up high in a tree. He shouts “Right there, that squirrel has an entire sandwich in its mouth!”

While the squirrel munches on the bagel and is ignoring the danger, he drops the item from the tree and onto the road.

The cunning, bushy-tailed beast was determined to not pass up lunch so quickly.

After Mr Freiheit backs away with his dog on a lead, the squirrel proceeds to make its way down a utility pole and recover the bread product.

After balancing on its tail, it climbs up another tree to get the bagel.

Mr Freiheit said: ‘I’ve lived in Montreal my entire life. You’ve never seen anything like it before.

He added, “At the very least, squirrels are good at cooking, but I’d prefer poppyseed.”

Canadian squirrels, however, are not the only rodents that enjoy the best things in life.

New Yorkers were stunned to witness a giant slice of pizza being carried by a Rat down the steps at a Subway Station.

The rat was able to drag the piece down many stairs despite it being larger than the other.

Its valiant efforts went viral.

The first rodent to take social media by storm for its larger than life appetite was Pizza Rat. In September 2015, New Yorkers were amazed when footage emerged of it carrying an entire large slice of pizza down the steps of a subway station

Two rats were seen scrapping over a bagel. It seemed both simply wanted to fit in with the commuter crowd, by enjoying a classic New York breakfast while waiting for the morning subway

Donut Rat sprung up on social media in 2015 after footage captured the rodent at East Broadway station on October 30 carrying the donut to a hidden spot

In 2019, Coffee Rat showed up, when the caffeinated creature was filmed dragging an empty cup of coffee across a subway platform in Brooklyn

Donut Rat was discovered on social media one month later. The footage showed the rodent walking to East Broadway station, October 30, with the donut in hand.

Bagel Rat, a pair of rats that were seen scrubbing over a bagel, was another star a few months later.

Both seemed to be merely trying to blend in with commuters by having a New York style breakfast and waiting for their morning subway.

Coffee Rat was then filmed carrying an empty cup of espresso across Brooklyn’s subway platforms.
