Police chase grinning pub drinker after woman was sexually assaulted at 1am

  • Detectives are seeking witnesses to help them locate the man in Aldershot

  • Hampshire Police released a picture showing a smiling man that they are looking to speak to

Hampshire Police are seeking witnesses to a sexual assault that took place in Aldershot pub.

On Sunday, October 3, officers received reports from Aldershot about an incident that took place in The George pub, Victoria Road.

A woman was reportedly victim to a sexual assault around 1.05am.

As part of their investigation into the incident, officers are eager to speak with the man in the CCTV image. They also appeal for witnesses to come forward.

In the released photograph, you can see him smiling while he holds a drink. He is wearing a black jacket with a t-shirt.

The Stonegate group owns The George pub. It is open Sundays until late. 

After a series of reports from Nottingham claiming that injections had been administered to women, the latest attack comes as UK women prepare to boycott nightclubs in November 4.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that 44 reports of spiking had been received, 12 of which were by needle, since September 4.
