A furious woman set fire to her father’s bedroom after becoming enraged about the lack of food in their house, a court has heard.

Farha Bushra (20), who lives in Willingham, Cambridgeshire with her father, started the fire in April when she lit tissue in a cardboard box. It quickly got out of control.

Before the blaze, Bushra called her father at work and demanded he went food shopping and in an angry rage threatened to set the house alight when he told her to buy her own meals.

But just a few minutes later, Bushra rang her father back and admitted the fire had got out of control, Cambridge Crown Court heard on Thursday.

Bushra, who was later convicted of arson, admitted that the fire had spread throughout the property.

PC Antony Piccinelli said her behaviour that day was “completely inexplicable.”

He added: “Only she will know why she thought setting fire to her father’s bedroom was a good idea or an acceptable reaction to an argument over food shopping.”

She was given an 18-month community order, ordered to complete 40 days of rehabilitation and given a £1,000 fine.
