Strictly come dancing’s Christmas special features hip-swingin’ Moira Stearn










Moira Stewart, an old news reporter and journalist for over a century, has remained at her desk.

The 72-year old was praised for her hip moves on last night’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

Star changed the carcue to the ballroom and wore Mrs Santa costumes, in order to dance with Aljaz Skorjanec.

After dancing to Santa Claus is Coming To Town, the crowd let loose and chanted ‘Moira!’, scoring 33 out of 40 possible points.

Craig Revel Horwood, who was thrilled by her star-turn and extolled her hip action, also compared her to Shirley Bassey.

Anton Du Beke, however, revealed that he was a long-standing advocate for an appearance of Ms Stuart.

This is unbelievable. He said, “I have asked you for this show 15 years and you turn your back, and you’re here with a young firm model.”

“You were fantastic, you moved and grooved, I love it.”

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to win the glitterball trophy. The show was instead won by Anne-Marie who got a perfect 40.

Graziano di Prima was the professional dancer. The 30-year-old said before his performance that “the only way for me to win”
