Residents of Ford Street in Birmingham, close to the historic Jewellery Quarter have seen their yards littered with rubbish since 2018.
Due to the presence of rat infestations in mounds, parents are not allowing their children to play outside. This has also made it difficult for people to invite others.
Locals allege that fly-tippers were making their lives miserable and adding to the massive pile, despite the fact the council having done nothing.
Birmingham City Council stated to MailOnline, that trash was taken from private property and dumped there. This land hasn’t belonged since 2016.
Doorfit Products Ltd, garage door installers claim they own the land. They also say that they are working with the council in order to remove it. They also claimed that the authority made the problem worse by placing restrictions on tipping.

Arjan Singh (44-year-old father of four) lives in Hockley and said that people will be coming to our city this summer to view eyesores such as this.
“What impression do visitors have when they view things such as this?” This is quite embarrassing.
It began 4 years ago. Nothing was done to rid the streets. And then, during the pandemic, it just kept getting worse.
“There are rats running around, it’s absolutely disgusting. This is a Third World city, but it’s supposed to be modern and cosmopolitan.
“It’s made our neighborhood unsafe and dirty – we need to do something about it. The problem is growing out of control and creating a lot stress for everyone.
Unnamed homeowner said that her home was a mess and it smells.
“I’m going to stop my children from playing outdoors because I saw rats roaming about, and that’s a huge health danger.
“I am also embarrassed that I have not asked my friends to come visit me because they don’t want to see what I’m living in.”
“But, this has been happening for many years and nothing has been done about it. I feel sick just walking by it.

According to a spokesperson for Birmingham City Council, “Ultimately the blame lies with the perpetrators.”
“The council should install CCTV because our doorsteps are a dump ground for fly-tippers, and no one should have to live this way.”
Anyone caught fly-tipping and illegally depositing waste could face a fine of up to £20,000 or even prison.

“We bought the land in the hope of expanding our storage facility, but we were unable to complete our plans due to the pandemic.
“Fly tipping” has been a major problem in the area, and we understand the frustrations of our neighbors.
“We applied for planning permission for fencing off our land and expect to receive a decision by Birmingham City Council within the next few days.
We will remove all trash from the land once permission has been granted and we will fence the area off to stop any tipping.
“Rubbish” appears quickly overnight and on weekends. We are reluctant to remove it unless we have a fence in place.
“It’s our opinion that Birmingham’s fly-tipping problem has worsened due to restrictive municipal tip use rules. We urge the authorities to allow residents to legally dispose of rubbish in Birmingham.
According to a spokesperson for Birmingham City Council, “Ultimately the blame lies with those responsible.”
“Those who dump rubbish are criminals and expect others to pay for their garbage disposal.
“There’s no reason to be antisocial, and it shows no respect for our surroundings. There are legitimate ways to dispose of your waste.
“We investigate all incidents, and we don’t hesitate to bring charges against offenders. This is evident in many cases that have been brought before high-profile courts.”

Residents were warned that they could be refused entry to local recycling centers if they don’t book their time slot for disposing of household waste.
