Sickening video footage captures the moment a woman was pulled to the ground by her hair during an unprovoked daylight attack as she walked through Manhattan.
The incident occurred at East 1st Street in Manhattan’s Noho neighborhood, between Bowery Avenues and Second Avenue.
Surveillance footage reveals the unprovoked attack in which a man appears to be in his 40s and is running westbound on East 1st Street. He is positioned from the Second Avenue side.
It is not known why the man ran. However, he was seen running towards the victim and grasping her hair with such force that she was thrown onto the concrete sidewalk.

Recently, a young woman was brutally attacked by an unknown attacker in New York City.

The incident occurred on East 1st Street, between Bowery Avenue and Second Avenue in Manhattan’s Noho neighborhood. A young woman in a backpack, walking just a few feet ahead a man, is suddenly and violently yanked down by her locks.
It is not clear when the attack occurred. DailyMail.com reached out to New York Police Department for comment.
This incident is the latest high profile case of assault in the city. The city has seen an increase in crime in recent weeks.
According to the NYPD, there has been a nearly 8 percent increase in reported felonies in five boroughs this year compared with the same period in 2020.
The number of reported felony attacks has increased by 18.6% in the four weeks leading up to Sunday.
The coronavirus pandemic, which began in March 2020, coincided with a spike in crime.


Surveillance footage shows a man in his 30s or 40s running westbound along the south block East 1st Street, starting at the Second Avenue side.

It is not known why the man ran. The assault is seen from a different angle.
New Yorkers fled New York City in the 18 months since the government declared a lockdown to stop spread of the disease. This included closing down offices, theaters and restaurants, as well as bars and other establishments.
The lockdown was also triggered by protests against police officers following the May death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
There were more looting, thefts and burglaries than street marches.
The NYPD released surveillance footage earlier Thursday that captured the moment five teenagers opened fire on a Bronx elementary school. This was just as the students were about to be dismissed.
Brazen gun violence broke out at Boys Prep Bronx Elementary School around 2:50 PM, as students at the K-8 school were being sent back.
The gunmen were not shot at students and they managed to escape seemingly unscathed in another incident of out-of-control crime in the city, which has seen the number of victims of gun violence almost double in the past two years.
The NYPD shared the videos with the public asking for help in locating the unidentified individuals connected to the ‘reckless endangerment incident.’

Surveillance footage captured a terrifying moment when three teenagers shot at another group of teens outside an elementary school. The teenagers were dismissing students who were seen walking down the street towards the violence.

The group of three teenagers was gathered at the entry to a parking garage on a residential street. The one wearing a gray hoodie fired on Tuesday, October 5.

Two teenagers ran between cars, while the other in a gray hoodie fired at the three who fled down the street at 2:50 on October 5.

The video shows two groups of hooded teens shooting at each other at the corner of East 150 Street and Cedar Lane behind the elementary school on a residential street.
A group of three men in gray hoodies and masks and two in black are seen standing in front the entrance to a lot. The masked gunman fires down on two other men.
The video then cuts to two men at the other side of Cedar Lane, one wearing a gray hoodie and the other in black, hiding between parked cars to avoid getting hit. The video then cuts to the man in the gray hoodie, standing behind a white SUV. He then fires back at them before he shields himself between a white van as he crosses the street.
The three men run westbound on East 150 Street towards Exterior Street.
A wide shot of the scene shows children about 60 feet away, walking from their elementary school towards the violence.
The NYPD video shows a clip showing the trio of men walking on a sidewalk just blocks from the shootout.
One man seen getting out of a red minivan just across the street from the two gunmen is seen getting into his backseat.
The two-person group is seen running along the street in front of each other, before turning around to head eastbound on East 150 Street.
As of Thursday morning there had been no arrests.

New York City crime rates have increased dramatically. While they are relatively stable compared to last year, some cases, including shooting victims, have more than doubled in 2019.
Principal Dr. Khalek Kirland stated to PIX 11, that the shootout placed all 800 students grades K-8, as well as their families and staff, in serious danger
He said, “The crime is horrible and we just want make sure that our scholars are safe.”
He stated that the precinct had notified the school immediately.
“So, we were able not only to ensure that our students did not leave the building but also to ensure that our families were safe. [that]He said that they were picking up their children.
Kirkland stated that Boys Prep will be a shining beacon in the South Bronx. “We are proud of our education and will continue to do so.
This shooting was just one of the increasing incidents of gun violence in New York City, which is particularly affecting the city’s children.
According to NYPD crime statistics, 1,526 shooting victims were reported in the city between October 17 and October 17. This is nearly twice the number of gun violence victims as compared to 2019, which had 760. Through Oct. 17, 2017, there were 1,507 shooting victims.
The data showed that there were 89 shooting victims between January 1 and September 26. In 2019, there were 45 shooting victims 17 years old and younger during the same time period.
16 young people were shot and killed in gun violence shootings between January 1st and September 26. This is more than 136% more than the same time in 2019, when three teens or children were murdered.
