When you next check in to a hotel, think about the staff members who clean the rooms and maintain it. Their jobs may involve making stomach-churning discoveries.
Some of the items were revealed by hotel staff via internet forums. They also shared forgotten items that were X, sinister and heartbreaking.
These items are simply extraordinary.

The discussions bubbled up on Reddit after users asked hotel workers about the weird things they had found in rooms after guests checked out.
It seems that weapons can be easily forgotten.
“Rattler00” revealed that they discovered a gun under a mattress.
They said: “Guest called my office while he was driving, and requested that I go to the desk to find it. After he remembers leaving it there, he asked me to take it with him.

‘In hindsight, I should have made his a** go up there himself and get it, instead of bringing it to the back office myself.’
X-4180 said that they discovered a purple lightsaber’.
The posters also revealed the staggering wealth of cash that had been left behind by guests.
One of them, Korbindallas912, said that they worked at the Las Vegas Strip hotel. He recalled the time when a high roller had left $328,000 [£243,000]He keeps his cash safe.

The guard added that he had watched me take it to the cage at the casino with a security officer. This is the most money that I ever have in one place.
He also said that a “housekeeper” called him to bring him up to the room where hundreds of crickets were all around. [it]’.
Poster:’sugaree53,’ moving the discussion back towards cash. They found $18,000 in a safe.
They said, “It was brought by the next guest that checked in. The couple had just got married, and had flown from Hawaii to leave it.
“I took it, and placed it in the safe at my hotel.” They called me frantic the next night, while I was at work.
The grim reality of what other hotel employees discovered was even worse.
One person claimed that they discovered a “literal crack pipe” in their freezer.
According to the worker, he added that he was taught not to ask questions but just to throw out any drug we find.
“meaniescreamtrain” said another that they pulled up a bed skirt and were greeted with “about 15 needles”.
Then they explained that one of the fingers was trapped in their hand. I immediately went to see my supervisor, who dismissed it and informed me that I was overdramatic. My mom then took me to the hospital for blood tests and my doctor made me take HIV medication for a month “just in case”.
It cost me $370, and I am Canadian. I was fine, but it wasn’t my best.
Then they added, “In an additional room, there was a bathtub full of dirty diapers.” The one child in the room was probably around 10-11 years old. He seemed perfectly normal, but it’s hard to know.

Another disgusting find was discovered by ‘Turquoise_Tentacle’, who said they ‘found the ice bucket with an inch or so layer of nail clippings in it and an Arkansas license plate under the mattress both in the same room, same day’.
Another worker, who also shared their opinion on the topic was unnamed and said that their worst job was being a cleaner in hotels.
“A room that was booked by three young men is a fond memory. They had spent an entire weekend in the place and the air was stale with sweat and booze. The room had bottles of beer and pizza boxes and there had clearly been more people there than they thought.
‘Worst part was that someone had taken a s*** on one of the beds… Not a smear on the sheets, no, an actual f*****g large turd. It didn’t matter if they did it before they checked out. They might have even slept in the same room as that gigantic turd.

Another poster with hotel cleaning experience, named ‘RapscallionCat’, was horrified to spend a week cleaning a ‘room that had flakes of skin literally coating the carpet from wall to wall’.
The poster added: ‘Every day I’d hoover it up and every day it would be back again. Thought I was going insane.’
Many hotel staff seem to look for unusual objects under the beds.
One un-named maintenance worker, who used to work at a ‘well-known’ hotel chain, recalled his strangest finding of all time – an unedited adult film on an SD card.
He said: ‘I was called to the room to fix an HVAC unit, and on my way out, it was standard practice to look the room over, make sure we didn’t miss anything.’
He found an SD card underneath the bed. He continued: ‘I put it in my pocket and forgot all about it till later that night when I got home and was putting my wallet and keys up. Curious, I put the SD card into my computer, figuring it had business files and random uninteresting b******* on it. Surprisingly, I found an unvercut porn scene that showed not just the “lovers,” but also the camera crew.
The SD card was eventually handed over by the man to the hotel’s lost property, in case anyone needed it.

Another maintenance worker, ‘KewlBeanx’, made a curious discovery in a room they’d be sent to in order to fix a light.
They said ‘the light fixture was full of water, yet wasn’t touching the bulb or wires’, they recalled, adding: ‘The fixture (which is essentially a bowl that screws up) was manually filled with water.’
The hotel worker then shared their theory, saying: ‘Hotel is located near an air force base. I’m guessing someone filled it to drown out voices in case of hidden microphones without hindering them.’
Untold hotel workers recalled coming across the photo album. It was moved to lost property but its owner never claimed the album (stock photo).
One worker claimed that they found a “sad” item left behind.
The woman said that she was housekeeper in a hotel for one year and half. However, it is not clear what I remember. What I did remember, however, was an old photo album that had been thrown away. It contained photos that seemed like they were from the 1970s.
“I thought the person who had thrown it away would regret it. So I pulled it back out, and then put it in Lost and Found. The item was likely discarded again because I do not believe it was ever claimed.
