Videos have embedded themselves in our daily lives, with some help from the internet and platforms like YouTube. As such, video has become a great medium to spread or share information for many. This means that more people than ever need video content marketing.

Several products, businesses, videos, and so on target the same or similar general audience/demographic. But their specificity towards that same audience/demographic sets them apart. 

For example, most fast-food chains sell fries. They all have similar menus geared toward the general population.

However, we know Arby’s from their iconic curly fries. People come to Arby’s specifically for this product; they know they can only find it at Arby’s.

We want our video content to have that same effect. What do we exclusively know or have that we can share within our chosen demographic?

We should also consider whether we want to monetize our videos. If so, we can research other tools like YouTube AdSense. Purpose matters just as much as the knowledge we put into our work!

Time to Get Technical

We’ve fleshed out our ideas, goals, and talking points. We know what makes us stand out.

Now, we must focus on video production.

People should return, rewatch, and reshare our videos: all impossible without professional aesthetics. Key elements include factors like:

  • Script-writing
  • Backgrounds/backdrops/props 
  • Lighting
  • Audio and video (what we actually see, i.e., quality, resolution)
  • Recording equipment
  • Editing

Remember that “professional” doesn’t mean “perfect.” Mistakes happen and offer learning opportunities. Instead, “professional” refers to consistent quality. 

Do we produce videos with humor or seriousness? Do we use special effects or keep things minimal? Do we make long or short videos?

Choose a style and stick with it. Of course, we may need to experiment when we start out, and we may try something new, take risks, adapt, etc. down the road. That remains key to our momentum.

That said, we should refrain from becoming something or someone else, entirely. 

No need to discuss politics if our past videos only cover painting!

Video marketing has improved significantly over the years. We can access various statistics like ROIs, views, active hours during the day, share quantities, and more. 

Use this data to share on the appropriate social media platforms at the appropriate times.

Interact with viewers. Offer giveaways, polls, etc. Ask them to share, subscribe, follow (and express appreciation/gratitude).

We want to do whatever we can to reach more people.
