Hugh Jackman revealed today that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore not be performing on Broadway’s The Music Man.
Australian talent actor, 53 year old, took to Twitter Tuesday morning to announce the news.
It was captioned by him: “Just wanted to tell you that it is me.” My covid test was positive. Mild symptoms and as soon as I’m cleared … looking forward to getting back to The Winter Garden! @MusicManBway’

Hugh donned the black mask to address his 14.6million followers during this short video.
He said: ‘Hey good morning, so I just wanted you to hear it from me that I tested positive this morning for COVID. The symptoms I get are similar to a cold. My throat is a little scratchy and my nose is a bit runny, but otherwise I am fine. The best thing is that I will do all I can to make it better as quickly as possible.
“And once I get cleared, I’ll be back at the stage headed to River City. Just wanted to say hi. Keep safe, stay healthy, and be kind.

Hugh and Sutton Foster began Hugh’s stint at The Music Man at Winter Garden Theater together on December 20.
Foster tested positive on Friday and had to be unable perform at the Christmas Eve show on Friday.
And luckily an understudy named Kathy Voytko was able to jump into the role in just five hours despite only ever rehearsing for the show once that same day.
Audience footage showed Jackman, the main star of the show taking a bow as the cast bows. This was to emphasize the incredible feat.
Jackman stated, “It humbles my,” “The strength it gives, the determination, and the talent. Broadway is built on the foundation of the swings and the understudies.
Hugh said, “My symptoms feel like a virus, I have scratchy throat and a little bit of runny nose, but they’re fine”.
Hugh said, “And I’m just doing everything I can for betterment ASAP.” Once I am cleared, I will be back on the stage and heading for River City.
Jackman honored the performers by bringing out last-minute substitutes during Voytko’s tribute.
Jackman claimed that the new COVID surge is troubling to Broadway. Broadway typically enjoys larger audiences during holidays.
It’s all around Broadway. Jackman declared, “This time is unlike any other.”

Twitter was the first place where it announced that Saturday and Sunday’s shows had been cancelled due to COVID-19 breakthroughs.
“Our company would love nothing more than the opportunity to celebrate this holiday with our audience and their family, but we must prioritize the health and well-being for the crew, cast and audience,” organizers stated via a Tweet.
‘We are so grateful to our entire cast and crew — most especially our heroic understudies and swings — for ensuring our speedy return to the Winter Garden Theatre.
Jackman stated that Broadway is suffering from the new surge in COVID-19, and thanked the understudies as well as the swings for helping to ensure the show continues.

Broadway is being hit hard by a spike in COVID-19-related cases. Other popular plays such as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Hamilton have also been affected.

St. Martin told the Hollywood Reporter that crews on shows are getting tested and that cast and audience safety is a priority.
She said that safety and security are our top priorities. If the show is about to be opened, then we feel that the information we have is correct and that it’s safe for all involved. ‘If we don’t feel it’s safe, we don’t perform that day.’
Moulin Rouge was forced to shut down after one of its cast members tested positive for COVID.
Fans were disappointed to see the Moulin Rouge close on Broadway.
The Lion King was one of eight shows cancelled by COVID. However, the show will resume following the holiday weekend. Broadway executives refuse to close the shows.
