A 40-year old influencer has announced that he is asking for more recognition of male menopause after being diagnosed with sudden depression, mood swings and severe libido loss.

London-based influencer and TV host Israel Cassol celebrated the milestone earlier in the year with his London friends.

Israel celebrated his big birthday with a profound moment in his life. He had finally found his dream job and reached his highest health goals.

Israel believed that this would be the beginning of some of his best years. But, things quickly changed. He soon found himself in a dark place of depression.

He said that he remembers feeling on top of the world after his 40th birthday. Although it’s a time we all fear, as it got closer, he began to feel excited about the milestone. “It was about celebrating all I’ve accomplished in the years leading up to my 40s, and I wanted to share this moment with my friends.

“After the celebrations had ended, I felt a sense sadness and an incredibly low feeling. I thought it was the celebrations over, but it got worse as the weeks went by.

Israel began to notice more symptoms over the months, which he didn’t know how to interpret.

He began to experience erectile dysfunction, loss of libido and difficulty sleeping. He also experienced a general lack in energy and enthusiasm for things that he used to enjoy.

THE MALE MENOPAUSE: HOW CAN YOU SEE THE SIGNNS

Dr Gluck states that weight gain, fatigue, low libido and general grumpiness are all natural signs of growing old.

If your husband is suffering from any of these symptoms, it might be time for you to seek treatment.

WHERE CAN I FIND HELP?

A blood test, complete medical history, and symptom analysis will show if a man is suffering from reduced hormone levels.

These are the three sex hormones that men need:

DHEA: Dehydroepiandrosterone, a hormonal precursor produced by the adrenal glands and made into testosterone.

TESTOSTERONE This is the main male hormone. However, women need low levels of it (essential to muscles, bones, and libido).

PROGESTERONEA hormone that is predominantly female and which men need at low levels to prevent excess testosterone.

Treatments usually include testosterone (in cream or gel), DHEA in capsules, or progesterone. The treatment results in men sleeping better, a renewed zest for life, and wives who fell in love with the men they treated. Dr Gluck warns men who have had prostate cancer in the past that treatment may not suit them.

Israel’s marriage began to decline quickly due to his lacklustre sex drive.

He said that he thought he was cheating on his partner and wanted to be with other people. “I was shocked at how little interest I had for intimacy and affection with my husband. It was not like me, I’m a morning, noon, and night type.”

Israel was convinced he had lost all desire for his partner. He turned to dating apps in an attempt to find a new spark.

Israel went to the doctor after failing to find the problem. He decided to test to determine if the symptoms were caused by a medical issue. Israel was shocked by the shocking results.

He was diagnosed early in ‘Andropause’, also known as the male ovaries, which he did not know existed until now.

He explained, “I couldn’t believe what was happening, I thought that the menopause was something that only women experienced, I never knew it could also affect men.”

“I was tired, overweight and had lost all sex drive. It made perfect sense when I was told by my doctors that I could be experiencing the andropause.”

Israel was first diagnosed and given hormone creams, oral tablets, and other medications. This is the same treatment that women receive for the menopause. He continues to take these prescriptions.

Israel made the brave decision to share his experiences with his 500,000+ social media followers. It was something that took courage, he said.

He explained that he took to his social media to see if this feeling was common among my male followers.

“Being an influencer on a large platform, I was reluctant to share my intimate details but wanted to see if this was a problem others were facing.

“I was stunned by the response I got from men who described similar symptoms to mine.”

Although not as well known for men than for women, menopause in men is a common condition and is on the rise.

The difference is that the menopause-like phenomenon in men occurs much slower in women than in women.

Although still taboo, many believe the topic of male menopause is worth debating. Menopausal women stop producing egg, while men can continue to produce eggs into their 80s.

Israel stated that ‘Being a male forces you to get through these obstacles and not feel defeated when your manhood isn’t doing what it should”

“We need to break the stigma and get more guys talking, it shouldn’t be shameful, men matter too.
