It was Angelina, Brad, and then it was Johnny and Amber. Then came Johnny & Amber. Now brace yourself for the Ioan and Alice show, in what has become — even by Hollywood standards — one of the showbiz world’s most bitter and publicly slugged-out divorces.
This week, the latest drama started when actress Alice Evans took to Twitter and claimed to her 29,000 followers that Ioan Gruffudd had been cheating with her for three consecutive years with a younger woman.
Evans implied that her ex had gaslighted Evans for years and betrayed her and their two daughters (but she did not provide any evidence to support this accusation).
Bianca Wallace is an Australian actress who is 21-years younger than Evans.
Gruffudd, a Welsh actor, posted a cozy picture of himself and Bianca on a set for a film, with coffee and looking happy.
Actress Alice Evans took the opportunity to tweet to claim that Ioan Gruffudd, her estranged husband (both pictured in January 2012.) had cheated with her for three consecutive years with a much younger woman
Evans implied that her ex had gaslighted Evans for years and betrayed her and their two daughters (but she did not provide any evidence to support this accusation).
He wrote, “Thank you for making my smile again,” with two love heart emoticons.
Wallace, the woman who makes him smile is an Aussie actress. Wallace was an extra in Harrow’s drama series, in Brisbane, for two years. Since then, romance has blossomed.
Alice is definitely not smiling, however.
Recollections vary on the ticklish question of when the Gruffudd-Wallace romantic connection began — they say after his marriage was over, but Alice claims they have been an item for three years. Worse, she claims, is that Bianca was a friend of hers.
After two years of telling my husband I was a bad person and not exciting, he decided he didn’t want to have sex anymore with me. He just wanted to be on the set abroad… and has been in a relationship for 3 years behind my back.
Alice demanded to know via a series tweets and Instagram messages if his acting friends and co stars knew what was happening.
Alice asked Ella Newton how long they had known each other about the relationship after Tamzin Outhwaite, an EastEnders actress, and Gruffudd’s former co-star on EastEnders, sent them their congratulations.
On Tuesday night, Evans posted a photo of herself looking depressed with smudged makeup (presumably from crying). She wrote: “Tonight, after learning that someone I thought was a good friend might not be.” BUT, and this is even more important, is my hair straight?
Bianca Wallace, an Australian actress who’s 21 years younger than Evans, is the “other woman”.
Alice started to post messages to Bianca’s Insta page, asking her to tell her what she was doing in France. Alice was then blocked after the messages were quickly deleted.
Alice then shared an Instagram picture that Bianca had uploaded several weeks prior, which showed a group sitting in chairs that were lined up along the beach.
She wrote: “I have no words. Elsie, Elsie’s 8-year-old daughter, received the following from my husband. He asked her if she thought that he was a good photog. I am lost. I am completely lost, confused and sad
When asked who is Bianca Wallace? Evans replied, “Bianca Wallace seems like the person he has been with for three years while blaming me for our problems.” This is what I found out tonight. I feel like I am going to kill myself. (I won’t).
She continued to tweet, “Why did him have to gaslight my?” Why didn’t he just tell me he had met someone?
Who is Ioan’s new woman?
Bianca recently made the transition to acting. She has just three screen credits, including —would you believe — a short film in which the main character is called Alice.
Her agency offers extras for TV shows around Brisbane. She was also seen at The Terrace rooftop bar at The Emporium Hotel, where she was a favorite of the cast and crew.
Wallace, 29, was living in Brisbane when Gruffudd, 48, was making three series of the TV drama Harrow in the city (starting in 2018) — although they are insisting through friends, that romance only blossomed between them after he had returned from Australia and split from Alice. The split was publicized in January.
Gruffudd spent six- to eight months away from Evans and their daughters in Los Angeles. The final Covid-disrupted series was completed in August 2020.
On New Year’s Eve last year — cited by Ioan as the date of his separation from Alice — Bianca wrote about how much she was looking forward to 2021: ‘We have a very exciting year ahead.’
Bianca moved to Los Angeles a few weeks back. She told a friend, ‘I’m absolutely loving the here.’
Gruffudd and She are currently halfway through a two-month trip to France. He has been starring in TV drama The Reunion. They have been staying at the famous Hotel du Cap and visiting chateaux with each other.
Gruffudd, a Welsh actor, posted a cozy picture of himself and Bianca on a set for a film, holding coffee, and looking blissfully happy on Tuesday night.
“I wonder what your plans are for France?” Alice wrote on her timeline.
Amy Douglas, Wardrobe assistant, said yesterday on Twitter that Ms Wallace was an additional on Harrow, but denied that she had a three-year affair with Gruffudd.
She wrote, “She didn’t contact him in season two.” I know this because I was there with the crew. They did talk in the final season, but not in season three. Don’t fall for the lies you are being told.
“Being her friend, I KNOW it didn’t happen. I know her as an individual and her principles. You do not. You don’t.
She continued, “I saw what Alice was doing with Ioan in the final week of filming. Threatening to divorce him if he didn’t go home.” I saw how upset he was at work. Bianca was barely on set for season three. I know, you do not.
“She is not a home-wrecker!” What do you know of anyone in this situation? No one. It was obvious to me that he wasn’t. I was shocked at how upset he was when she abused him on the phone.
“I have permission from both of you to comment. They began talking on set about acting. Nothing personal. He spoke to me about my writing. I guess I was also having an affairs with him. Talking about careers is not something I consider an affair.
Evans and Gruffudd said they were divorcing in March.
The couple, who met on the set of the film 102 Dalmatians in 2000, have two daughters — Ella, 12, and Elsie, eight.
Evans was the star of the show when they first met. She was living in Paris, France, with Olivier Picasso, the painter’s grandson, and they were a fixture of cafe society.
Her engagement to Picasso ended and she moved in with Gruffudd (and Matthew Rhys, Gruffudd) to a Kilburn flat.
Gruffudd was the subject of a Kiss-and-Tell story in the News of the World during the early years of romance. A girl claimed Gruffudd picked him up at the Skybar in the Mondrian Hotel, Los Angeles for a single-night stand. Evans and Gruffudd were at that time dating, but they weren’t yet engaged.
They moved to LA in 2003, and were married in 2007.
Their tensions are attributed to separations at work. Ioan told The Guardian in February 2013 that they have struggled over the past four year to make time for one another because physically, they are apart.
In January, they released the following statement: “As we can imagine, it is an incredibly difficult period for our family and that is why we remain committed to our kids. We are grateful for your privacy.
Ms Evans has been openly attacking Gruffudd’s legal team and the way they conduct themselves from the beginning.
Alice (pictured with Ioan), demanded to know via a series tweets and Instagram messages if his acting friends, and co-stars, knew what was happening
She started with a tweet that read: “Sad news. Ioan Gruffudd (my beloved husband/soulmate for 20 years) has announced that he will be leaving his family starting next week.
“Me, our young daughters, are very confused and unhappy. We have not been given a reason, other than that he ‘no more loves me’. I’m so sorry.
This Tweet later disappeared — and Evans extraordinarily said her estranged husband was to blame.
She wrote: “Hi there. I didn’t delete the tweet a few minutes ago about him leaving. He did. From my account. . .
“And hell yes, when my mind is being tortured and gaslit, then hell yes, I will wash all my linen in public.”
In March, she had another outburst, this time saying: “At the moment, we’re doing something called collaboration divorce, which is somewhere between an extremely kind way to do divorce and a phenomenal fraud.
“Lawyers don’t know the law.” Lawyers are there to f*** the law. That’s what my father always said. But, I might have other thoughts.
Her angry tweets have gained a following among the “wronged wives club”, with many of them tweeting their support and sharing their own stories about hurt and betrayal.
Alice wrote, “I haven’t spoken to my husband for nine months (his choice)” just two weeks back. I did my fair share crying, screaming, and accusing.
“I begged and pleaded for at least some form of running discussion. This is my way of reacting after such a life-changing experience. He ghosted me. I have been ghosted almost ten years now.
She continued furiously: “This is Ioan Gruffudd.” I’m not going to bend over for this man. This man has no empathy at all!
She claimed that he also wanted me to sign a document stating that it was MY Fault that he couldn’t get any work. (Hey — this is Hollywood). I don’t care anymore. I’m done!
If the last few months are any indication, it seems highly unlikely.
