Undercover TV investigations revealed that Dr. Giovanni Miniello (60), a Bari-based gynaecologist, told an actress posing as a patient she was infected with human papillomavirus, which can be fatal, during an investigation.

Miniello informed the female patient that the virus could be given immunity by him being vaccinated. He also offered to have sex.

The undercover actress then agreed to meet him in a hotel, where he again assured her as he undressed that afterwards she would be free from the virus

He then invited the undercover actress to join him at a hotel. She was again assured by him as he undressed her that she would soon be free of the virus.

But before he thought he was about to have sex with her, a journalist came into the room and surprised the half-naked doctor, who reportedly said: 'I'm doing this for my studies — and for the other people that I have saved'

Anna Maria was identified as the woman. She said that she had consulted Miniello regarding her inability to get pregnant and that he had told her she had HPV signs despite a negative Pap smear. 

“I saved many women from the disease of cancer,” he said. He reportedly said to her that all those he had come in contact with afterward were unfavorable. 

Anna Maria contacted La Repubblica an Italian newspaper, alleging Miniello had touched Anna Maria’s breasts indecently. Miniello also told Anna Maria that he preferred women with smaller breasts.

She was stunned when he suggested having sex to heal her after she called him about the results. 

The woman then reached for Le lene’s investigative news channel, where an actress was hired to portray a patient. 

Minello told her that she had ‘white spots’ on her cervix, which indicated the presence of HPV. Then, he offered to go out with Minello. 

Minello said that having sex like Minello with someone who has been vaccinated will give her immunity. Minello offered to immunise Minello by having sex.

After he was done, the actress undercover agreed to go back to his hotel. He assured her that after the visit she would have no more symptoms.

When she asked him about protection, the man replied that it wasn’t necessary as she wouldn’t then be able to benefit from the antibodies.  

But before he thought he was about to have sex with her, a journalist came into the room and surprised the half-naked doctor, who reportedly said: ‘I’m doing this for my studies — and for the other people that I have saved.’ 

Despite the smear test showing all negative results for HPV, the actress was still told she had the virus

Even though the HPV test results were all negative, it was reported that actress had contracted the disease.

As a result of the TV investigation, 15 other women have come forward and claimed they were also victims of Miniello and his miracle sex cure

A TV investigation resulted in 15 women speaking out, alleging that they had also been victims of Miniello’s miraculous sex cure.

Through his lawyer, Miniello said: ‘I, who have successfully treated hundreds of women for over 40 years … only proposed an alternative treatment that has yielded results,’ adding that he never forced women to have sex with him.

After the television investigation ended, fifteen other women came forward to claim they had been victims too of the doctor’s miracle sex treatment.

Marika Massara was the Anti-Violence Centre’s coordinator in Bari. There have been many women who shared a similar experience. 

“Some are considering reporting it while others fear to do so, due to the high level of secondary victimisation in which we find ourselves.”

In the meantime, Bari’s public prosecutor has opened an investigation. This is currently in its preliminary phase and aims to determine what happened.
