Taylor Swift shut down Damon Albarn’s claims that she does not write her own music, which he alleged in a recent interview with the LA Times. 

Swift wrote on Twitter, “I used to be a huge fan of yours before I found this,” Swift wrote, “I compose all my songs. Your hot take is so false and damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f**ked up to try and discredit my writing. Wow.’

In a reply message to the original tweet, the Grammy-winning artist joked that he had written it all alone.

After Blur’s 53-year-old frontman stated that the 32-year old pop singer ‘doesn’t write her songs’ but relies on co-writers, Her reply was immediate. 

Swift had been praised by Mikael, a pop music critic. However, Swift’s father-of-one expressed his opinion that co-writing is much more interesting than writing.

“I don’t hate anybody. I just say there is a huge difference between a co-writer and a writer. But that doesn’t mean the result cannot be amazing,’ he said to the outlet.

The British musician went on to praise Billie Eilish as a ‘really interesting songwriter’ and her brother Finneas O’Connell. 

“I find Taylor Swift more attractive to this than Taylor Swift,” he said. It’s just darker — less endlessly upbeat,’ he said of the 20-year-old Bad Guy hitmaker.

He added: “Ways more minor and unusual. He said, “I think she’s outstanding.”

Swift, the same night, criticized ‘toxic masculine privilege’ and said that ‘women working in music should not be allowed to coast.

Later, she blasted those who claimed that her success was due to “a male producer or cowriter”. 

“In the past 10 years, I’ve watched women in this field be criticized, measured up to one another, and picked at because of their bodies, romantic lives, and fashion,” she said.

Ultimately, Swift said she, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish and Lizzo and other female musicians ‘could’ve’ been crushed by the pressure, but it made them diamonds.

Antonoff, 37 years old, said that he hadn’t met Damon Albarn, and claimed the artist had never visited his studio. He has been there for every Swift album since 2014. 

He laughed and said, “But apparently Taylor knows more about all the songs Taylor composes and brings in,”  

Albarn, who was subject to backlash via social media, issued a public apology in Swift’s Twitter, saying: “I completely agree with you.” I had a conversation with Swift about songwriting, but it was quickly reduced to clickbait. 

“I apologize unreservedly, and without condition. Discrediting your songwriting is the last thing that I would like to do. He said, “I trust you are understanding.”
