ITV will be extending its news bulletin to include Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
It will air an hour-long, revamped national and international news from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.
According to the broadcaster, the new format would allow for more coverage of live events and greater emphasis on reporting from the UK. This will reflect the entire country.
In the meantime, Coronation Street will transition to hour-long episodes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm, while Emmerdale will shift to a daily 7.30pm slot.
These schedule changes will likely cause irritation at BBC executives as ITV’s soaps clash with EastEnders. EastEnders usually airs on Mondays at 8.05pm, Thursdays at 7.30pm and Fridays @ 8pm.

Mary Nightingale will still present ITV’s hour-long news show

ITV’s revamped hour-long news program will air from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
BBC1 is struggling in the soap ratings war, with Emmerdale & Coronation Street pulling in millions of more viewers than EastEnders.
Mary Nightingale will continue to present the hour-long news program, which expands on the 30-minute current slot.
The new ITV schedule will allow ITV to broadcast continuous news for 90 minutes. Regional shows are still broadcast at 6pm prior to the main program.
For the expansion of its channel, it is currently recruiting 27 new journalists, producers, and multi-skilled cameras operators/video editors.

Coronation Street will switch to hour-long episodes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 8pm

Part of ITV’s programming changes, Emmerdale will shift to a 7.30pm slot daily.
ITV claimed that these changes will ‘bolster key programmes in the pre-9pm Schedule’.
Managing director of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo said: ‘We are excited to be announcing this investment in… high-quality, impartial, trusted broadcast journalism at a time when it could not be more important.’
He added: ‘The nation’s two most popular continuing dramas, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, are fundamental to the success of ITV and we know… viewers increasingly watch them whenever and however they choose.
“The new scheduling allows viewers to watch the soaps live in one-to-one on television, and also on ITV Hub.
