The Great Escape cast at Oktoberfest – photos from 1959 have been revealed.
These photos show James Garner (left) and Charles Bronson (right), who both star in the film, sipping traditional tankards at a Bavarian beer festival with other friends.

The snaps have surfaced as part of Garner’s personal archive which is expect to fetch £370,000 ($500,000) when it is auctioned off in June.
Garner played the role of Flight Lieutenant Robert Hendley, in this 1963 classic about Allied prisoners-of-war trying to escape a Nazi prisoner of war camp.
The actor is also seen reading through a Third Reich history book while researching the role.
Garner (pictured) is also seen pretending to conduct the event, which was revealed as part of Julien’s Auctions’s sale of the personal archives of Hollywood legend and late Hollywood actor.
Garner appears to be happy in these photos from the Bavarian beer festival. They were released for public promotion.
Garner, reading from a book about Third Reich during the production of 1964 film The Great Escape is another photo that can be found in our archive.
He is shown in a signed photo of himself riding a Steve McQueen motorbike with his topless head, while another picture shows him playing music.
Garner is best-known for his roles as The Great Escape, Maverick and The Rockford Files. In 2014, his estate released some of the most valuable possessions from Garner’s major roles.
This archive also features a signed Great Escape sign and includes Garner’s entire Western costume that he wore when he played Bret Maverick on the TV series “Maverick” which ran from 1957 until 1962.
It consists of a black wool jacket, a white cotton shirt, with ruffles at the front, and a beige silk vest. A dark blue string tie is included. The gray wool trousers are also included. It is valued at £15,000.

And two classic black felt wool cowboy hats he wore as Maverick are tipped to fetch £3,000 each.
A circular pendant engraved with the initials ‘JG’ with a small horseshoe charm affixed by a chain that was probably gifted to the actor during his time filming Maverick is worth £400.
The sale also includes the Golden Globe Award for ‘Best Actor’, which was presented in 1993 to James Garner as a result of his performance in the comedy-drama series Barbarians at the Gate. The award is valued at £4,000.

Julien’s Auction will include several costumes left behind by the deceased actor.
Additional items include a Garner safety helmet, which he customised for driving after becoming an avid driver. Also included is a Golden Globe for Best Actor for Barbarians at the Gate.
Garner became an avid race-car driver thanks to his acting role in the 1966 movie Grand Prix and a safety helmet customised for him in the late 1960s with his name on the back is expected to sell for £2,000.
