Jamie Vardy today made his first appearance at the ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial as he joined his wife Rebekah Vardy to hear former England teammate Wayne Rooney give evidence in the £3million libel case against Coleen Rooney.

Rooney, 36 years old, will speak today at the Royal Courts of Justice, London. He spoke one day after Coleen testified and described messages Rebekah sent to her agent regarding her as “just evil”.

Coleen also, 36, accused Rebekah (40) of leaked ‘false accounts’ about her private lifestyle in October 2019, after she claimed she conducted a lengthy’sting operation. Now, the bombshell case is in its final days.

Rebekah denies the allegations and has sued Coleen over the ‘untrue and unjustified defamatory attack’, with the last of the defence witnesses – including Rooney and his cousin Claire Rooney – set to give evidence today.

Many witnesses noted Vardy’s departure from the trial in the initial five days. This has led to Rebekah, a tearful, being put under cross-examination. Coleen’s husband Rooney was present at the court, and he was able to sit in front with his wife, as she gave her evidence.

Just before the proceedings started this morning Vardy and his wife took their seats on the left side of court. The Rooneys followed a short time later with no acknowledgement from either man. Coleen, who was wearing a black gown, is still wearing her brace over her foot from a fracture she sustained in an earlier fall at home.

Coleen completed her testimony yesterday after she first entered Court 13’s witness box on Friday. Yesterday she answered questions regarding Rooney’s misbehavior and his arrest for drinking.

Hugh Tomlinson, QC for Rebekah, mentioned an article that told about Rooney’s arrest and drink driving conviction, after he was found with another woman.

According to the barrister, it was “another apparent crisis” in their relationship. Rooney also had been misbehaving.

Revealed: Uncalled-for messages in libel case

February 22, 2019,Coleen Rooney posted a photo on her Instagram showing the damage done to her car following a collision. The next day Rebekah Vardy says in a WhatsApp message to Caroline Watt: ‘She’s a nasty b***h x’ and ‘I’ve taken a big dislike to her!… These stories would be great to share, x. Rebekah claimed that her comments are not about Coleen.

January 27,Coleen tweets, ‘It’s tragic to think that someone who has accepted to follow my is betraying me either for money or in order to continue a relationship. Rebekah sent a WhatsApp message, “U seen Coleen’s Twitter.” Mrs Watt replies: ‘Such a victim. Poor Coleen… It wasn’t somebody she trusted. It was actually me.

Feb 6Rebekah sends messages to Mrs Watt: “She [Coleen]Thinks it’s her that has been telling stories about her !… That c*** needs to get over herself!’

October 1,Rebekah said that Coleen posted a photo on his private Instagram showing one of Rooney’s children looking like he was going. [sic] no seatbelt on’. Mrs Watt responds: “Yeh, he is. But it’s on her private Instagram so she can’t do any with it. X…She has taken it down now. Rebekah ardy responds: ‘She’s such a d**k x’

Coleen responded: “Yes, there have been many, it’s unfortunate those things have happened to me and they get publicised. It has happened quite often and I have dealt it – as a couple as as a whole family.

Rebekah and Coleen sent a supportive message around the same time to Mr Tomlinson, stating that there was “nothing suspicious” about it.

Coleen stated that she had already suspected the existence of Mrs Vardy, so it was easy to see how things were adding up. When it was difficult, I felt like Mrs Vardy would text me.

“Obviously, with the suspicions I had, it felt like I was fishing for information.”

Coleen also was asked questions about Rebekah’s reaction to her post titled’reveal.’

M. Tomlinson wrote: “She makes it very clear that it wasn’t her, doesn’t she?”

Coleen said that she claimed to have zero interest in my personal life. This I think is completely false. Coleen added that she talks a lot of about her… which was also a lie.

Coleen spoke about WhatsApp messages between Rebekah Watt and Caroline Watt that the court heard – Coleen also participated in this discussion.

Rebekah commented that Ms Watt had not spoken to her before, and she said she’d never meet or speak with her.

Coleen said, “There is no reason for it. I have never done anything to them.”

Later, she stated that many people had reached out to her after her post. Mr Tomlinson claimed people were calling her “Wagatha Christie” online.

The woman replied, “Yeah. Which I think is absurd.” It was quite serious and many people were sending me photos, screenshots.

“I felt it was hard, and people that I trusted were being against me.

Rebekah Vardy says that evidence from match photo of Rebekah Vardy is simply untrue

Rebekah Varidy’s evidence regarding why she sat beside Coleen Rooney in a football game is’simply not true’ according to a former Football Association employee.

Harpreet Robertson was an ex-ticketing manager and family liaison officers for the FA. She was interrogated about how the seats were set up at one match between England and Germany at Euro 2016.

Coleen Rooney (front) and Rebekah Vardy (back) are pictured at the England v Wales football match at Euro 2016 in France

Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney are seen together at the England-vs.-Wales football match at Euro 2016 (France).

Ms Robertson said to the court she believed Rebekah made the ‘choice’ to seat behind Coleen in the match. In her testimony, Rebekah claimed that this evidence was’simply false’.

Rebekah’s own witness testimony stated that Coleen, her family, and others were sitting at our tables when she and Rebekah went to see the game. Instead of making a big deal, we chose to sit in the nearest available seat.

Rebekah claimed that she did not intend to switch seats so as to be near Coleen in the photographs.

According to Mrs Robertson’s witness statement, Becky said that although she never refused the seat she was allocated, she did so with her guests. But it seems that Coleen would prefer to be in the right spot for anyone photographing or looking at her. Her behavior during the match suggested that she was not focused on the football match. Becky, I recall being constantly distracted by her mobile phone. She took selfies all the time and showed very little interest at the match.

Ms Robertson stated that Coleen was photographed sitting behind Ms Robertson in tabloid paper photographs the next morning. It was exactly the type of media attention the FA and I had tried to avoid.

Robertson testified that Ms Robertson would also reserve matches seats for herself and FA security staff members. However, she found that many others had already taken those seats.

She continued: ‘I asked them to move but they refused and were incredibly rude and abusive to me, remarking words to the effect of ‘we can sit where we like, f*** off’. The altercation that followed almost brought me to my knees. Soon, I realized that the people in question were Becky’s friends. Becky could clearly see what was happening between Becky’s guests and me.

Ms Robertson claimed that she later met with the FA security staff and sat somewhere else, which “compromised security for all players’ family members and friends to some degree”.

Yesterday’s hearing featured testimony from Rachel Monk (Coleen’s ex-PR representative), about Coleen’s interactions with The Sun about stories about Coleen’s wife.

According to Ms Monk’s witness testimony, she told Sun journalists that her client had been to Mexico for a gender-selection clinic.

Harpreet, who was a family liaison officer with the Football Association in the past, said that Rebekah’s guests, Jamie Vardy, and Rebekah were ‘rudess’ and abused her during a Euros 2016 match. This is the worst moment she has ever experienced at a football game.

Rebekah claimed that Rebekah’s testimony about Coleen sitting behind her at the England versus Wales match, was “simply false” in her witness statement.

In a brief appearance in the witness box, Coleen’s brother Joe McLoughlin told the court he was ‘shocked’ when he read his sister’s October 2019 social media post revealing her so-called ‘sting operation’ after helping her to create a ‘graphic’ of its text shortly before it was sent.

In a quick appearance, he stated that it was “a shock to my system.”

McLoughlin said that he managed his sister’s social media accounts while he was working at Triple S Group, a sports management firm supporting Wayne Rooney.

When asked if he ever discussed his sister’s concerns about who might be leaking their information, he answered: “No, never.”

Yesterday Coleen was also asked about Rebekah’s abuse on social media following the reveal. Coleen stated that she knew what was going on and found it to be disgusting. That would be something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

“I was being trolled too, but Mrs Vardy was clearly disgusting with the comments they made… The world that we live in now and the trolling are terrible.

The court was informed by Rebekah’s legal counsel that she didn’t say any more about her investigation to Rebekah, or publically.

It was very frightening to her. The solicitors suggested that I take their advice, but I held on to the idea and continued my delay.

Coleen stated yesterday that she would like a story about the so-called gender selection process to be published to ‘evidence her sting operation in order to uncover the source of leaks.

Coleen posted one of the Instagram stories in the “sting” on April 8, 2019, stating that she was traveling to Mexico to investigate a method to decide a baby’s sex.

Coleen replied, “Let’s go see what this genre selection is about,” accompanied by a few heart emoticons and what seemed to be a smiling face emoticon.

The Sun published an online story on August 15, 2019, with the headline “Col’s baby boy bid” and was exclusive. It covered Coleen’s supposed desperate bid for a girl.

Coleen replied to Mr Tomlinson about his post: “I wanted the story so I had evidence.”

Coleen told the High Court that she had suspicions Rebekah’s Instagram account leaked information to journalists after she removed her from the site.

The pair weren’t good friends, she stated. If someone unfollowed her, she would “probably just forget it” and not message the person.

She stated that she felt the incident was suspicious. Evidently, there were other suspicions, and this only added to my suspicions.

The trial comes after a widely-shared social media post in October 2019, in which Coleen Rooney said she had carried out a 'sting operation' and accused 40-year-old Rebekah Vardy of leaking 'false stories' about her private life to the press

After a social media posting in October 2019 that was widely shared, Coleen Rooney claimed she’d conducted a “sting operation” and charged Rebekah Vardy (40) with leaking false stories about her private life.

Coleen defends Rebekah’s libel suit on the grounds of truth, public interest and fairness.

The lawsuit was initiated after Coleen made public claims that Rebekah, the person behind three fake stories about The Sun she shared on her Instagram account, is Coleen.

Coleen posted fake stories on Instagram during the sting operation. They featured Coleen traveling to Mexico to perform a “gender selection” procedure. She also planned to return to television and her basement flooding.

In the Instagram post, Twitter and Facebook she said: ‘I saved and captured all of the original stories that clearly showed only one person viewed them. It is ………. Rebekah Varidy’s account.

Did Rebekah Vardy leave the courtroom when she was done? To punch a wall about her stupidity in bringing the case. JANE FRYER sees the Wagatha-Christie drama unfold

JANE FRYER, DAILY MAIL

If Mrs Justice Steyn had spent her weekend inhaling Halsbury’s Statutes, longing to tackle a juicy Saudi arms case or the tricky Guantanamo bay inmates case and blanking out everything and everyone Wag, she would be surely forgiven.

Most of us will be happy that the events of this week are etched in our minds forever.

Rebekah Vardy was involved in the crash that killed her and many of her court attires. Coleen, however, is a restrained Aircasted Gucci-adorned woman.

How Peter Andre’s tiny acorn was proportioned; how the Rooney couple went through the ups, downs. As Wayne slouched beside his petite wife, the pain was clear on Wayne’s face.

Wow, what a week! Vintage. Epic. Unbeatable.

Today is a new day. Another week! Rebekah, who wore an acid-lemon-yellow suit to Ladies’ Day at Aintree, has made it a bright week!

This could be mistaken for Chanel from afar, but it is too shiny to pass as Chanel close-up by fashion’s elite.

(It is actually a rather splendid £2,095 two-piece by Alessandra Rich, accessorised with a £1,890 bag).

Coleen looks ready to take on a shift at Specsavers, wearing a grey suit recycled from The Kooples and a black top. She also has her trusted clutch.

And Wayne – poor Wayne – seems to be wearing someone else’s school uniform again.

We’re then off. Coleen – clean, clear, concise and doggedly calm – describes Vardy’s private, expletive-ridden WhatsApp messages as ‘just evil’ and shares a bit about herself with Court 13.

She hates the noise and is not interested in being photographed by the media.

How, even when she was planning her brilliant Hercule Poirot-style reveal – originally written out by hand, like a true sleuth, on a note that is now forever lost – she told no one, not even Wayne.

She was stunned by the amount of attention she received and is now loatheful about the trial. How, horror of horrors she actually doesn’t enjoy the word ‘Wagatha’ Christie! Coleen! What kind of Wag do you have?

She even gives the messy court bundles in the witness box a quick tidy at one point and spends a long, long time patiently explaining the difference between Instagram photos and ‘stories’ to overpriced lawyers who really could have taken the trouble to mug up beforehand – or just ask their kids.

Her cross-examination continues on and on. It’s possible to call it this.

Hugh Tomlinson (QC), the famous greying Rottweiler, is hardly able to put a glove on her.

If Rebekah felt ‘bullied and manipulated’ after her mauling by ‘Shere Khan’ David Sherborne, Tomlinson’s expert grilling is more a gentle stroke – a cool legal hand on Coleen’s lovely, smooth brow. It is the Ibiza holiday that involves interrogations.

After all the things Coleen has been through, that must be a good thing for her.

It does not mean that there are any of the drama-filled fireworks from last week. The zing, the zest – other than Vardy’s get-up – has gone. Everybody is getting a little too floppy.

David Sherborne seems to have lost some of the deep mahogany glow that gave his dazzling tan.

Even Rebekah – finally out of the hot seat – doesn’t seem to be revelling in it much.

Bex is actually quite sour as we go through interminable discussions about which people sat where when they should have, and then we swear unattractively at 2016 Euros.

Until, suddenly, during the afternoon break, she’s had enough and – citing a pre-existing appointment – legs it.

She might have spilt some stuff down the suit. Perhaps there’s a flash sale at Dolce & Gabbana.

Perhaps she needs to just punch a wall hard at her stupidity for issuing such proceedings.

My taxi driver said it best: “It’s bloody crazy.” Sri Lanka only has one day left of petrol, and everybody’s just talking about Wags of War. “The world is going crazy!”

Of course, he is right. But coming up in the next episode of this preposterous tale, Wayne will be giving evidence – oh golly – and we won’t be missing a single moment.
