Joe Biden’s eight-miles-per-gallon ‘Beast’ limousine is spotted filling up near his Edinburgh COP26 base after his 20-car motorcade ferried the president 90 miles to Glasgow and back while being tailed by helicopter

  • Gareth Mackie, a local resident, was shocked to spot The Beast with its decoy at BP Garage
  • Critics questioned the decision of Mr Biden to say 45 miles away from the COP26 venue
  • Personal vehicle dubbed ‘Beast’ emits around 10 times more C02 per liter than an average car

Joe Biden’s gas-guzzling motorcade could be seen last night filling up at an Edinburgh petrol station – where he is currently staying before continuing the massive convoy that takes him back and forth from Glasgow every single day, accompanied by a helicopter.

Gareth Mackie, a local man, was shocked to see The Beast and its decoy. He also saw at least two other large SUVs that make up the 20-strong presidential motorcade.

He jokingly said, “Zoom in and see a White House aide’s jaw drop at UK petrol prices.” Petrol recently reached a record high of 142.94p/litre. Diesel – which is believed to get the Beast eight miles per gallon – also reached a new record high at 147.94p/litre.

Today’s critics pointed out the irony of Senator Biden going to a climate conference in Glasgow, but only to be 45 miles away in the capital.

According to flight trackers, the helicopter of a police officer shadowed the convoy as it traveled along the M8, adding more carbon to Mr Biden’s carbon footprint.

The Cadillac Beast, a 20,000lb armored limousine, generates 8.75 lb of carbon per mile. This is 10 times more than the average car. Two Beasts, the official vehicle and decoy, are part of his entourage.

This means that every day, the two Beasts alone emit 1575lbs CO2 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The conference will last until November 12, which brings the total possible for both cars to just below 20,000lbs.

According to calculations, he will produce an estimated 2.2 million pounds of CO2 during the entire trip. The bulk of this will come from his airborne entourage consisting of at least four planes.

His fleet includes the heavily modified Boeing 747, which he calls Air Force One when he is on board, an identical decoy and two massive C-17 Globemasters that he uses for transporting his battalion cars and helicopters.

Each jet emits an average of 54 pounds of carbon per flight. If they flew the same distance, just under 10,000 miles, an average American would produce 0.365 pounds of carbon.

Due to COVID-19 rules in Italy, only three non-cohabiting persons – including the driver – are allowed per vehicle, Mr Biden’s motorcade reached an amazing 85-car length in Italy.

It also considered the Beast and Chevrolet Suburban SUVs as well as the famously thirsty Alfa Romeo cars used by Italian police. It would have produced around 73.5 pounds of carbon per mile.

Mr. Biden will be spending his time in Scotland at the Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, which is located in an 18th-century mansion and two 18-hole courses.

It hosted the Solheim Cup, a prestigious competition in women’s golf.

Just down the road from the Dalmahoy Hotel is the BP petrol station.
