John Terry’s Twitter debut was explosive. He shared several hilarious and tongue-in-cheek messages with his fans.

To the delight of many, the former England captain joined microblogging to his fans’ delight. While most of his messages were supportive, some of his tweets saw him attack critics or even ridicule their partners.

As well as branding fans’ wives pigs, he also responded to a swipe which alluded to his alleged 2009 affair with his then-teammate Wayne Bridge’s partner Vanessa Perroncel, after a fan asked: ‘How many wives you banged this year?’

John, who has been married to his childhood sweetheart Toni Poole since 2007, is yet to be verified on Twitter under the handle @John2606Terry but has responded to a number of messages insisting his account was legitimate.

In one of his exchanges, a follower penned: ‘Best make sure wife doesnt [sic] follow him’, to which the football legend cruelly responded: ‘Your [sic] safe, just seen yours on your account’ — with a pig emoji attached.

It was then that a wife enquired over his ‘banging wives’, after which he crudely responded: ‘Ask your missus’, in a tongue in cheek jibe.

He also branded a fan a ‘donut’ after his grammar errors were highlighted.

Shocker: The former England captain, 40, joined the microblogging site to the delight of fans and while many of his messages have been supportive, a handful of his tweets have seen him hit out at critics and even slam their partners (John in 2010)

The crass references come over a decade after the explosive story in which John was named as having an affair with the ex-girlfriend of team-mate Wayne.

The then-England captain wed Toni in 2007, while Bridge is understood to have split with French-born underwear model Perroncel at the end of 2009.

He had won a gagging order stopping the public learning about the alleged affair but the injunction was lifted in 2010. Both John and Wayne, who is now married to The Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge, both played together at Chelsea and with England.

The so-called super-injunction was issued by a High Court Judge under human rights law. The man had claimed, successfully, that the disclosure of his infidelity would violate his right to a private and familial life.

Judge Mr Justice Tugendhat lifted the injunction, but stated that he did not believe an interim injunction was necessary.

“Aligned to the severity of any interference in the private lives of the applicants that could occur in the case of publication or disclosure of the relationship.” [the applicant]You can trust that no one else will interfere with your private life.

At a private hearing, Mr Justice Tugendhat issued the interim order to LNS attorneys – Terry was identified in court papers.

It should be in effect until he makes his final decision, which he did in writing.

This ordered covered Terry’s specific personal relationship with the person named, the details surrounding it and certain consequences.

Judge explains his reasons why he won’t renew the injunction. He says: “I accept the fact that the information sought to protect isn’t in the public domain insofar as there is nothing left that can be protected.

“But there is evidence that wide circulation took place amongst people involved in the particular sport (agents included) and not just those who are directly in the sport.

“If an injunction should be denied, I wouldn’t refuse to grant it. The fact that information has been made as easily available to many means that injunctions are less needed or more proportionate than they would be otherwise.

“Further, If – which I believe is likely – Terry’s real concern in this instance is the impact of publicity upon sponsorship business, damages would be a suitable remedy, should Terry prevail at trial.
