A Kentucky student filed a lawsuit against the school after he was photographed with students doing lap dances during a homecoming event.
A lawsuit was filed in Perry Circuit Court against Donald ‘Happy” Mobelini, and two Hazard High School teachers. According to Lexington Herald-Leader, the trial is set to begin in August next year.
The lawsuit claims that the physical and sexual assault occurred during a 2017 school trip to New York City.
Mobelini and two other teachers are accused of failing to properly monitor students at various points on the trip.
Student who filed the legal action claims that students were drinking during the trip.

One time, students were left to explore Manhattan’s Times Square by themselves.
According to the lawsuit, Mobelini and two teachers failed to properly investigate the allegations of the student that she was assaulted in class by a male classmate.
According to the student, a male classmate took her to her bedroom sometime between 4am-5am on October 29, 2017. According to the lawsuit, the boy assaulted and physically attacked her shortly after.
Mobelini and two teachers sought to have the case dismissed.

The photos gained national attention after a Twitter user shared them via Hazard High School’s Facebook page. They have since been taken down.
The photos show cheerleaders in Hooters waitress uniforms, carrying what appears to be alcohol, and a male student performing a lap dance with Mobelini.
It was also reported that there were ‘paddlings’.
DailyMail.com reached out for comment to both the mayor of London and his assistant.
Susan Combs, Superintendent for Schools, has launched an investigation.
Combs stated that the incident was under investigation. As you know, any information under investigation I really cannot talk about. ‘Once the investigation has been completed, appropriate action will take place.
The school’s Facebook page promoted the event as part homecoming week.

A few ‘paddlings were also distributed.
The day included the traditional Powderpuff football game as well as Spirit Day and Twin Day. The ‘Man Pageant’ was the main source of much of the excitement.
Combs declined the offer to comment on whether the “Man Pageant” was an annual event.
“Um. What is the exact purpose of this, y’all? C’mon Hazard was the name of Nema Brewer who co-founded KY 120 United education advocacy group. She tweeted the photos Tuesday night. “Get it together.”
Toni Konz Tatman, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Education, stated that they are aware of the incidents at Hazard Independent Schools and have been in contact with the superintendent who informed them that the incident is under investigation.
Hazard Independent School Board member Aster Smallmore claimed he was at Hazard Independent School Board Tuesday but not at that event.
‘Normally, the principal, Happy Mobelini, is pretty dad-gum strict, so that surprises me, unless someone pulled something out of a hat,’ Sizemore said, the Louisville Courier Journal reported. ‘A child comes to school in a short dress, you’ll notice, he makes them go home to change.
Ralph Butch Asher (Board chairman) said that he was aware of this issue. He couldn’t say if the event was an annually occurring one.
Mobelini was reported to have been investigated twice in 2008 for alcohol incidents involving students.

The Lexington Herald-Leader claimed he drove students around smoking and drinking alcohol in one instance.
Similar criticism was levelled at Mobelini in 2008 when he was caught by police drinking on the school’s football field just moments after leaving.
Mobelini was not in trouble because he wasn’t aware of the drinking.
