After a week of Downing Street crisis, Labour gains SIX POINT lead in polls over Boris Johnson’s Tories.

After a week-long crisis on Downing Street, Labour’s poll leads have risen to six points over Boris Johnson’s Tories.

Today, the Conservatives lost two points to 34% in a poll amid fury over Covid’s rule-busting parties from Christmas last year.

The Survation poll by the Daily Mirror shows that Labour is up a point at 40%, according to their latest and older surveys.

Since Boris Johnson assumed power in 2019, the level of opposition support is at its highest since the last pollster recorded it.

In the midst of multiple attacks, this crushing poll finds the PM facing a number of fronts.

The alleged parties to his December arrests are putting him under immense pressure. He also faces a huge backbench rebellion against attempts to tighten Covid restrictions.

The accusation of lying regarding the funding of a luxurious refurbishment of his Downing Street family apartment is another.

Additionally, Johnson was also made a second father today when his wife Carrie gave her birth to their second child.

Boris is to spend ‘family’ time as Covid chaos grips UK

Boris Johnson returns to fatherly duties as No. 10 is surrounded by crises. Meanwhile, his wife Carrie gives birth today to their seventh child – a baby boy.

Mr Johnson has also revealed that he will take some time off work – but not two weeks of paternity leave – despite the turmoil triggered by launching ‘Plan B’ on Omicron and new allegations he lied to Lord Geidt, his new adviser on ministerial standards, about the donor-funded refurbishment of his Downing Street flat including its £840-a-roll gold wallpaper.

Today’s furore about Christmas parties at No. 10 was also worsened by the fact that the investigation into the alleged Covid rule-busting parties has been widened. This probe now includes another celebration as well as a report of staff members leaving the area where the PM is said to have made a speech.

Boris and Carrie entered a London NHS hospital this morning at 7.40 am, just hours after the rebel Tories had called for him to resign. This was around two hours after officers arrived to protect the area before they arrived, MailOnline can confirm.

The 33-year old Mrs Johnson was disguised and led into the side entrance with a security guard who carried an overnight bag. The husband of the bride, 57-years old, was wearing a mask, wooly hat and accompanying her with a bag and what looked like a Bluetooth speaker.

A younger sibling to Wilf’s son, the baby girl was born in a matter of minutes with Johnson by her side through labor and birth. After leaving the maternity unit at 11.45am, the PM made his way back to Downing Street around lunchtime. His hair was ruffled and he later returned to Downing Street around 3:00pm.

According to the statement, the Johnsons stated that the Prime Minister and Mrs Johnson were thrilled to announce the arrival of a healthy baby girl earlier in the day at London’s hospital. Mother and daughter both are doing well. They would like to express their gratitude for the support and care provided by the NHS Maternity Team.

His spokesperson said that the Prime Minister would not be taking two weeks paternity leave. However, he added that the father-of-7 will spend some time with his children and balance his responsibilities, including those of his PMQs and daily red boxes next week.

The PM isn’t in the worst poll of the week. Labour also had a four-point lead in the Redfield & Wilton poll, the largest since the 2019 general election.

With the poll showing that 63% believe that the PM should step down, the scale of the Tories’ losses from the partying revelations has been highlighted.

Mr Johnson is struggling to contain a Tory revolt today amid fury at ‘non-sensical’ new Covid restrictions and his handling of the No10 Christmas party debacle.

Last night’s press conference saw the Prime Minister announce ‘Plan B’ measures in response to the Omicron virus. It was feared that Omicron-related infections will double each day, and could lead to the collapse of the NHS.

Millions of office workers will be asked to work from home starting Monday. Masks will need to be worn in cinemas and theatres. Covid passports for big venues and nightclubs will also help.

Johnson insisted that Christmas party at work should be allowed, drawing ire from some critics. Existing businesses in dire straits have complained that different venue requirements ‘don’t make sense.

An assortment of Conservative MPs threaten to protest the measure at the Commons vote next week. The PM will have to depend on Labour support in order to make it through.

MailOnline has been told by Ringleaders that this will be the largest mutiny to date, with 60 people expected to challenge the government whip.

Marcus Fysh, Backbencher for the House of Representatives said that today’s curbs were an “utter disgrace” while Mark Harper, former chief whip has asked whether the government is morally able to place the limits after the Downing Street row.

At the same time, the PM was accused of lying about his knowledge of funding for a lavish renovation of his Downing Street flat.

The Conservatives have been fined £17,800 by the Electoral Commission for failing to register a five-figure cash donation from businessman and Tory peer Lord Brownlow in October last year.

The probe revealed that the payment of £52,000 connected to redecorating the No11 apartment was kept off the books, with worried staff told ‘don’t worry’.

The investigation revealed that Mr Johnson may have known the cash belonged to Lord Brownlow’s Huntwood Associates, which was in November of last year.

It also showed that the PM successfully tapped him up via WhatsApp for another £60,000. In total the Tory peer gave £112,549.12 towards the renovation of the private flat.

However, Lord Geidt’s adviser on ministerial standard, No10, stated earlier this year that the PM informed him that the source of money was unknown until February.

According to the peer, Johnson was cleared of any wrongdoing by his own investigation. Lord Brownlow had not informed the Prime Minister that Johnson had personally paid the entire cost.

Dominic Cummings, Mr Johnson’s ex-top aide, today claimed that the PM had ‘obviously lie to Geidt.

Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader wrote today to Kathryn Stone, Parliamentary Commissioner to Standards to request that she investigate the donations.
