The truth about the bald man: Ladies prefer a man with hair. White men with receding hairlines are considered less successful by the more fair sex.

  • 120 people were shown photos of men with and without hair in a psychological study at St Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada.
  • Then, they were asked to rate their personalities as well as their traits.
  • Balding white men were predicted to be less friendly, successful, and enthusiastic than those who saw the same man without a full head.

Bald Men may believe they have the raw sex appeal Bruce Willis or Prince William.

Unfortunately, however, a study shows women find them less attractive than their fully covered counterparts – and bald white men are also judged to be less successful.

For bald black men, there was good news: they were deemed no less attractive than those with hair in a psychological study of 120 individuals.

A study of 120 people published in the journal Evolutionary Psychological Science found that bald men were less successful.

The men were shown pictures of themselves with or without hair and then they were asked to rate the personalities and traits of each other.

Those who were shown a bald white man compared to those with full heads of hair predicted that he would be less successful, less friendly, and more enthusiastic in his life.

Young women deemed a man without hair less attractive.

‘But just because baldness can attract this unconscious view of men doesn’t mean their other qualities don’t matter – and if they are wonderful in other ways, that is very important.’

The study was published in the journal Evolutionary Psychological Science.
