Nazir Ahmed was previously Lord Ahmed of Rotherham and is currently being tried at Sheffield Crown Court for sexual offences against a boy & girl going back 40+ years.
One woman claims that a peer attempted to rape and assault her as a child. He was then a teenager, according to testimony from the jury today.
Nazir Ahmed was previously Lord Ahmed of Rotherham and is currently being tried at Sheffield Crown Court for sexual offences committed against a boy & girl over a period of more than 40-years.
The jury heard from the victim that Ahmed tried to rape her at 16-17 years old, but the truth is she was much older.
Former politician is now 64 and accused of serious sexual assault on a child under 11 years old, also in the 1970s.
After she was referred to police by her in 2016, a recorded telephone call between them was presented to the jury.
Tom Little QC (prosecutor) told the jury the call came from a man who contacted the woman via email and stated that he had evidence against the paedophile.
Ahmed claimed that the allegations were a fabrication, but Mr. Little’s recording clearly shows this.
The recording shows the woman saying to the man, “What they did was absolutely wrong. It’s now that justice is being sought for the boy who couldn’t protect himself.”
“I don’t want to wait any longer,” she said. It’s not for me. This is for you, as well as for the other children Nazir Ahmed has abducted and all his brothers.
“The police will take care of you. They’ll believe what you say. They’ll take you seriously. They will stand by you. You’re a victim.
He sounds extremely upset and says to the woman, “I don’t want the bastards to get away with this.”
He said, “I thought that I was the only one.”
According to Mr. Little, “The surprise that you get from (the man), is palpable.”
Ahmed would not say that there was an innocent explanation.
According to Mr Little, “[Ahmed]’s] case was that these events didn’t occur. This is all a malicious fiction.”
An account of Ahmed’s alleged attempt to rape the girl in 1970s when she was 16-17-years old was presented to the jury. However, the accused was far younger.
Ahmed, along with two of his older brothers, Mohammed Farouq (71) and Mohammed Tariq (65), were charged. However, both men were deemed not fit to stand trial.
Farouq and Tariq will be charged with indecent assault for allegedly abusing the same boy Ahmed is alleged.
The jury was not asked to decide whether the accused are guilty or innocent of the offences. They were only asked to consider whether the defendants committed the charges.
In opening the case against Mr Little, he stated that he was referring to repeated sexual abuses in Rotherham for a long time.
He stated that the “those involved” kept it hidden away for years. The body is now not buried and it’s no longer hidden away as people have complained.
He said, “This wasn’t an isolated incident.” This was not an isolated incident and children were not performing sexual experiments.
“It was abuse. It was repeated abuse.
According to Mr Little, the victim was an infant school student when the brother abuse began.
A prosecutor stated to the jury that Nasir Ahmad was at the time of the complaints a member of House of Lords. He has resigned from the House of Lords.
According to him, the complainant had the courage to file a complaint against the House of Lords member she was complaining about.
According to Mr Little, Ahmed claimed that there was an agenda behind the complaints and that he worried about how he would respond to them.
Ahmed from Rotherham sat at the dock alongside a security officer wearing a dark suit and purple shirt, with a predominant red tie.
He has denied the buggery of a child under 11 and two counts each of attempted rape against a female under 16 as well as indecent assault on a male under 11.
Continue the trial.
