Malala Yousafzai, a campaigner for girl’s rights to education, has finally tied the knot nearly a decade later.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner, 24, has married her partner Asser Malik at a ceremony in her Birmingham home.

Malala sent sweet photos from her wedding day (where she wore a lovely pink bridal Nikah) to Twitter.

In adorable photos taken outdoors, she smiled alongside her husband who was wearing a pink tie.

Although it isn’t known when Malala and Asser started their relationship, her husband did post a July birthday message.

Malala’s father Ziauddin Yousafzai had said earlier in the year that he would give her freedom to select her own partner.

Malala survived being shot in his head at 15 by a Taliban gunman. After campaigning for education for girls, she has been a local icon for women’s right.

Malala had previously voiced doubts that she would marry. In June she told Vogue: ‘I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?’

After campaigning to educate girls, Malala was shot in the head at the tender age of 15. Her legacy has made her a world-famous advocate for women’s rights.

MailOnline interview, nine months back, was an exclusive one-on-one with Mr. Yousafzai.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Mr Yousafzai, 51, said his daughter was fully independent and should create the life she wants. He said: ‘In our community, when a girl reaches 23, she is usually married by now and has little say in the matter'

MailOnline’s 51-year-old Mr. Yousafzai said that his daughter is fully independent and should be able to create the life of her dreams. He said: ‘In our community, when a girl reaches 23, she is usually married by now and has little say in the matter’

He stated, “In our community when a girl turns 23, she’s usually married and has very little control over the situation.”

“Tribune or caste do not really matter to me. It is Malala (my daughter)’s life that is most important. Fathers should believe in the education and liberty of their children.

“She can choose to be with her partner, or anyone at all. It’s her choice.

After being shot in 2012 she moved to the UK and graduated from Oxford. She also met some of the most prominent politicians and stars in the world and established a foundation that promotes girls’ education.

Pashtuns from Pakistan’s mountainous region are her family. They are patriarchal, traditional, and fiercely patriarchal people who arrange for marriages of girls young and do not want to educate them.

He said, “I’ve left these matters to Malala. She is independent. She is happy and will make me feel at ease with any person.

He concluded that he would only say one thing: She should select someone who will respect her beliefs, freedom and independence. Her wisdom would make her a much better judge than mine.

Malala, who was continuing her school journey despite being defied by the Taliban, was shot in the side head.

She survived miraculously and was taken to Britain for treatment. From there, she continued her remarkable work. Malala became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize Winner in 2014 at 17 years old.

The Taliban tried to make her feel less feminine and she believed strongly in female equality.

According to Mr Yousafazi, his views are “extremely rare” in Pashtun society. He also admitted that he used to rail against forced marriages while in Pakistan and stressed the importance of education for girls.

Malala has stated that her mother Malala was happy to welcome a girl into the world, but Ziauddin Yousafzai wanted him to provide every chance a boy could have.

Malala shot Malala in Malala’s Swat mountain district. The Taliban had infiltrated the Swat area at that time.

According to Mr Yousfaafazi who was often forced to flee to safety from extremists’ threats, ‘I’d tell my parents to get their daughters to read and to give them a pencil. What the Taliban did wasn’t true Islam.

Malala graduated from Oxford University but then deferred her place at Harvard to focus on running the Malala Fund with her father, an organisation she established that works across the world to implement girls’ education programmes.

Yet, Mr. Yousafazi stated that while she was overseeing Malala funds’ work, she also home-schooled her mother Toor Pekai at lockdown, where she is currently taking English online classes.

Together with his three children, Mrs. Yousafazi had to flee Taliban threats many times.

Atal, 17, has asked her to help him with homework. Malala is also a sister to Kushal, 21-years old, who studies at an English university.

Mr Yousafazi added: ‘Like so many other British people, Malala has been doing a lot of home schooling and has been helping her mother every day with her English course and Atal with his studies, when he asks her.

‘But unlike many people, she has really enjoyed home schooling. Malala loves education and is one of the most committed and dedicated students I have ever met and that’s what also make her such an excellent teacher.’
