A house near Leicester has been searched for a couple who were found dead from serious injuries.
On Thursday, officers from Leicestershire Police were called at an address in Desford (Leicestershire) after neighbours raised concerns regarding the welfare of the couple who lived there.
The force stated that they found the bodies of a 69 year-old man and a 79-year old woman inside the property. Both had suffered’significant injuries’.
Their families were informed and are being supported with family liaison officers who have been specially trained.
A man and woman aged 78 years old were found dead in their home near Leicester. They had suffered severe injuries. After concerns were raised by neighbours about the welfare of the couple, officers from Leicestershire Police were called on Thursday to a house in Leicester Lane, Desford.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding deaths has been initiated.
Leicestershire Police has assured the public there is no other risk and stated that they are not currently searching for any other suspects in relation to the deaths.
Detective Inspector Nicole Main of the Major Crime Team said that she was working hard to determine what happened inside the address, and how the two deceased died.
“At this point, we aren’t looking for anyone else in the investigation and there is no greater risk to the public.
‘The family is being supported at this time by specially trained family liaison officer.
“I am aware that there will be some questions, but we are continuing our investigation into the circumstances of the deaths.”
