The Dark Knight may be patrolling the streets in northeastern Mexico after several attempted robbers were found tied up to lampposts with their faces painted like the supervillain Joker – leaving many to wonder who the mystery ‘Batman’ could be.
A man and a woman who were busted for stealing a female pedestrian’s purse over the weekend in the city of Río Bravo displayed the DC Comic book villain’s clown paint.
The suspects had to be placed on opposite ends of the light pole, at an intersection in downtown Houston. They were then tied together with duct tape from Texas.
The male suspect, who was left shirtless and had his pants cut into pieces, had the phrase ‘soy rata’ or ‘I am a thief’ painted over his chest and ‘por rata’ or ‘for being a thief’ inscribed over his forehead.
Following their robbery of the purse belonging to an elderly lady in Tamaulipas (Mexico), a vigilante painted the faces of Luz Magaly and another man as the Joker.

His female companion, who identified herself as Luz Magaly in a police video, had the similar face paint job and ‘por rata’ written across her forehead.
Luz Magaly freed herself from the clutches of her police officer and then helped her accomplice escape.
“I chased the woman. She gave me her purse. It was very easy. It was easy.
“Right now, there’s no job and no money. He said that it was simple for him to accomplish this. “I ask for forgiveness from the woman. My head was off the mark. Drugs were a factor in my behavior. It is a very regrettable situation. I beg your forgiveness.
