Riveting courtroom footage revealed Ghislaine Maxwell’s sister Christine collapsing in tears after the judge announced the alleged sex trafficker would spend her 60th birthday on Christmas Day behind bars as the jury broke from deliberations for the weekend.

Christine is seen sobbing and being consoled by Isabel, her twin sister. Isabel also seems to be frightened. After Christmas, Ghislaine’s fate was not revealed to them. The socialite is now being held behind bars for Christmas Day.

The sisters  and their brothers, Ian and Kevin Maxwell, who can also be seen in the video anxiously awaiting a verdict Wednesday, will now have to wait at least 48 hours to learn their sister’s fate for the unspeakable crimes she is accused of that see her facing up to 80 years in a cage.

Robert Maxwell’s children, the Maxwells (the Maxwells were a notorious English publisher magnate who drowned in his yacht in 1991), have always been present in courtrooms to support their brother, who is currently being held in Brooklyn House of Detention following her arrest in July 2020.

The jury considering the charges against Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged madam will resume deliberations on Monday.

Maxwell, aged 59, pleaded not guilty in New York to six counts for recruiting and transporting girls under the age of 16 years. She was awaiting his trial at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center.  Although she is believed to be a participant in Epstein’s abuse, which included victims aged 14 and under, Maxwell denies all allegations.

Following two days of intensive deliberations and a highly publicized trial for sex trafficking, the jury broke for Christmas on Wednesday.

When jurors were offered the opportunity to deliberate on Thursday, they replied by writing a note to judge: “No, thank you.” The jury has made plans for tomorrow.

Maxwell, who was due to be in court on Friday, December 24, will now spend Christmas and her 60th Birthday behind bars. She is anxiously waiting for a decision.

Maxwell is currently facing up to 80 years imprisonment if she is convicted. She has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since July 2020.

Before being taken from her home Wednesday, she appeared to be relaxed. She laughed with her lawyers before giving them a hug.

The court will be closed for the remainder of the week, and it will reopen on Monday.

Maxwell insists on her innocence, and Maxwell’s lawyers denounce her accusers for having false memories and being motivated by money.

Maxwell claimed in court filings that Maxwell’s treatment in prison was so severe it could be considered ‘fit to Hannibal Lecter’.

Maxwell’s attorneys claimed that they were inappropriate for a “59-year-old woman who poses no danger to anyone”.

Maxwell “barricaded” herself with legal documents in prison’s video conference room at one point. Maxwell, according to prosecutors, was considered a security risk by blocking the doors and keeping guards out of the area.

Judge Alison Nathan said to the jury, “Safe” during the Christmas break because the Omicron coronavirus variant was present.

She stated she wanted them all to return ‘healthy’ Monday. All court attendees in New York will be required to use N95/KN95 masks for entry to the court.

At the end of day, the jury demanded another copy the transcript from Jane’s testimony.

They asked for testimony from Kate and Juan Alessi (another accuser) as well.

Maxwell (59) denies six charges of transporting and recruiting underage girls to Jeffrey Epstein.

The jurors seemed to have zeroed in on the two accused during Tuesday’s second day of deliberations.

After deliberating for several hours Tuesday, they sent four written notes to Judge Jeremiah. One of them was about Annie Farmer.

They asked her if she would be willing to testify on two counts of conspiring to transport and entice an underage girl into sex acts.

Judge Nathan stated that she would inform them.

The jury requested earlier that the FBI take notes on a 2007 interview Carolyn conducted with the FBI. This was the first time Carolyn spoke publicly to authorities about Epstein’s abuse.

Judge Nathan stated that the evidence had not been filed so that they couldn’t see it.

The jury might, however, refer to it in Carolyn’s cross-examination by defense.

After just under an hour of deliberation on Tuesday, the jury sent its first note at 10.10am.

Judge Alison Nathan indicated that jurors were seeking transcripts of Jane’s and Annie’s testimony, but not Kate.

Kate is the sole accuser who claims they should not be treated as crimes in the indictment.

Prosecutor Maurene Comey indicated that each side needed to reach an agreement on some redactions in order to hand over the transcripts.

Bobbi Sternheim is a lawyer for defense.

Judge Nathan did not call the jury out. She said that she would hand them the transcripts of the proceedings in the deliberation area.

Maxwell entered court in black turtleneck sweat, black pants and a green folder.

She reached out to her attorneys and waved at the young lady in the gallery.

Maxwell’s defense gave closing arguments Monday afternoon. They said that Maxwell is an innocent woman who was wrongfully accused in a series of criminal acts she did not engage in.

In her closing remarks, Maxwell’s lawyer Laura Menninger said: ‘The government has failed to prove any charge beyond a reasonable doubt and the only correct verdict in this case is not guilty on each count.’

Menninger said that defense tried to again discredit the statements of four of their accusers. “The evidence has established, what we promised you it would,” Menninger explained. In this instance, however, the reverse is true. These men were brought to the FBI by the money they claimed. There, their personal injury lawyers could be found.

Menninger claimed that Maxwell’s portrayal was like Cruella de Vil, Devil Wears Prada and other characters.

Menninger stated that such a portrait is ‘as ancient as Hollywood’.

Menninger claimed that the lawyers had manipulated their stories, and the government agreed to their tales without ever corroborating them.

Menninger claimed that the accusers “suddenly” rediscovered memories many years later.

As the jury deliberates, members of the prosecution team for the Ghislaine Maxiwell trial leave the Thurgood Marshall United State Courthouse carrying boxes of paper.

She stated: “The recovered memories that Ghislaine had been involved, that Ghislaine existed, that Ghislaine, the perpetrator, were there.”

The jury of six men and six women deliberated for the whole day and sent four notes to the judge including one which related to Annie Farmer (pictured in a school photo)

A jury consisting of six men (and six women) deliberated all day. The judge received four notes, one of which was about Annie Farmer.

Menninger stated that Epstein was the subject of a lot more conversations than the prosecution, including about his lifestyle and property.

Menninger stated that Epstein was an’master manipulator’ and abused both his money (and his power)

She stated that she was not present to defend Jeffrey Epstein. However, she said, “Ghislaine Maxiwell is not Jeffrey Epstein.”

Menninger stated that Epstein’s death prompted the prosecution to ‘pivot’ towards Maxwell.

It was a simple idea that “Ghislaine must have known” because she was there.

Menninger criticised prosecutors for showing jurors dozens of photos from Epstein’s New York residence in 2019

She asked: “Where are all the 31960 other photos?” Were there other girlfriends in the photos? Were there other women? Others women

The jury should not draw any conclusions from Epstein’s keeping of Maxwell photos. Menninger had asked the jury if a boyfriend or girlfriend took photos of Maxwell. Would that be considered sex abuse?

Menninger condemned such images, calling them’straight-up sensationalism.

Menninger claimed that the accusers inserted Ghislaine Maxiwell in their story after having ‘lawyered up.

Menninger claimed that you don’t require a lawyer to contact the FBI.

Menninger claimed that the defense was responsible for asking the tough questions of the accusers. However, cross-examination had revealed that the truth was changed and manipulated over time in order to pay the victims a salary.

Menninger examined the inconsistent statements of Jane and Carolyn, and stated that they suffered from a ‘post event suggestion’. Elizabeth Loftus was the expert on false memories. It is the act of adding new information to the memory after an event.

Menninger stated that Menninger had “broken promises” to the prosecution to produce many house staff members, relatives, and other witnesses in support of the claims.

Prosecutors Maxwell suggested that Epstein could be a facilitator of sexual abuse to help her maintain her wealthy lifestyle. This was wrong.

Menninger claimed that Maxwell, at the time, was a “beautiful women in her 30s” who was only beginning her career.

Epstein was known for manipulating others around him and dating women behind Maxwell’s back.

Menninger suggested that Jeffrey might have needed Ghislaine’s connections and not her money.

Menninger, turning to each accuser said Jane was like an “actress forgetting her lines”. Jane is an actress in a soap-opera.
