I never believed he was capable beyond hitting me. At that point, however, it seemed that I could manage that.

‘When I came home, I spoke honestly with him, saying that I no longer liked the relationship. I also said that the last thing I remembered telling him was that he wanted to be happy.

“He pulled the machete from the rocking chair in front of him, and I held my right hand high to shield my head. It almost severed all three fingers.

“He told me repeatedly to lie down but I refused because I was too focused on my hand and needed to go to the hospital. It was clear that he did not want to assist me, but to execute me.

“When I refused lay down, he turned to my left and hit me in the face. That’s where you can see my scar.

She stated that she was shocked when people asked her about what had happened to her face. “Oh, my husband attacked my face with a machete.”

“I like to make people feel uncomfortable. I don’t really have a filter on that stuff. It was difficult to express at first, but then I realized it was just crazy.

“People don’t survive from this often.” It is as ridiculous to claim that I was attacked at machete by a leopard.

“That’s the way I deal with what happened. Dark humor has greatly helped me in my recovery.

“In a strange way, though I still feel upset, it’s not like I did before. I know he doesn’t deserve everything and I believe that he is entitled to all of it. But, standing up for myself has given me a lot of confidence.”
