New York’s cutest pooches participated in the 31st Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on Saturday.

After being cancelled last season due to the coronavirus epidemic, the parade was rescheduled for this year. 

Many people came to the East River Amphitheater in large numbers to see their owners and their pups dressed up in their most festive Halloween costumes.

The contestants competed to win prizes in a variety of categories, including the cutest and most creative costumes.

The winner of the scariest category was a large dog dressed as Disney's Maleficent, the powerful fairy who cursed Princess Aurora to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and sleep for many years. Pictured is 'Maleficent' with her owner

The scariest category’s winner was a large, costumed dog that resembled Disney’s Maleficent. This powerful fairy cursed Princess Aurora to put her finger on a spinning wheels and she would never wake up again. 

Other costumes included a mailman and characters from Star Wars, a group monarch butterflies, and Thing 1 and Thing 2 respectively from Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat.

Jenna DeAngelis was one of the parade’s judges. She said that it was quite a challenge to select the winners this year.

She said, “Being a judge at Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade wasn’t easy because all the dogs were adogable.” tweeted
