Nicky Clarke is a legendary hairdresser. 

The industry icon, 63, married his long-term partner Kelly Simpkin, with whom he shares son Nico, four, and daughter CeCee, two, after 14 years as a couple, at Old Marylebone Town Hall in a joint celebration for Kelly’s 40th birthday. 

OK! Magazine interviewed the couple. They talked about their decision to marry and how Kelly’s milestone birthday led them to plan for their big day. In an interview with OK! Magazine, Kelly and the husband spoke out about the decision to wed. Kelly also shared how Kelly’s birthday helped them plan their wedding. The blonde beauty explained how she designed their own gown.

The couple ensured every romantic box was ticked for the big day, as Nicky walked up the aisle with their two kids while Kelly was accompanied by her father Malcom to the tune of Hall & Oates track Had I Known You Better Then. 

Kelly stated that Kelly was adamant about taking in everything before the wedding. The wedding was more wonderful than we ever imagined. 

The couple were married in front of only 30 people, including Nicky’s mother Rena (98) and four of his siblings. 

After the couple left the ceremony to the tune of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough After the party began at the Crypt at St Etheldreda’s.

On their non-traditional approach to  the day, Lisa detailed: ‘No best man and no speeches, which I think my dad was relieved about!…

“We wanted to create a true celebration of the wedding. We’ve been together so long it was just about making that complete and to share it with the children. For us, we didn’t want the real textbook wedding, which can be quite stressful.

Nicky added: ‘The fact this started as a party and then turned into a wedding has meant we haven’t done this in the ‘normal’ way…

‘That’s not to deride anyone who has traditional weddings, it just wasn’t for us. There are people we haven’t seen for months due to the pandemic, and we wanted a big celebration.

Nicky commented on the bash saying: “The dance floor was full throughout the evening. Many people donned disco pants. Everyone was on their feet, and the kids were just as brilliant. They all praised their behavior throughout the day.  

Nicky has spoken earlier in the month about having two children older from an ex-partner. becoming a parent again ‘challenging’.  

The Express spoke to Nicky: “Being a father again is difficult. It’s time to drive Ferraris and stop changing nappies at 6 AM. My children older than me were somewhat surprised that I was having children.

Kelly and Nicky first met in Nicky’s salon as Kelly was a stylist. Since then, they have been together.

OK! Magazine previously reported that he had spoken out about his relationship with OK! magazine of their relationship: ‘We feel really fortunate that we’re having another child. I’ve got a second chance at this. It was a great experience being a dad for the first time.

“So, in some ways it’s the same. However, I think that I am more patient now. Truth is, I probably am around more.
