After a long, sleepy night with his pet koala, a wombat decided to embrace his inner couch potato and took a nap on the sofa.

Adorable footage was uploaded to the Wombat Awareness Organisation on Monday showing the wombat named Noah napping at its refuge in Flaxley, South Australia.

This is Noah. He’s one of our most dominant males. His dignity is admirable and he would never have snuck into the lounge to sleep in, wrote the caption.

Pebbles, a five-year old friend of his, was also captured playing in a nearby bed, eager to cuddle and awake.

The caption read, “Then, there’s my darling darling girl Pebbles, who loves to spend all evening tucked into bed and all day in her burrow,”

“She is almost 5 years old. As a little girl, she would sucking on my thumb. Now, she still attempts to do that.”

Since then, the vision went viral with over 344,000 views. There have been thousands of likes and thousands of shares. Social media users around the globe are enthralled by the cute sight.

One user wrote, “These animals are adorable, I live in the UK and have never seen one in person…It must feel so rewarding to work with these incredible creatures.”

‘I wonder what Noah is dreaming about, his little legs suggest he’s busy in his dream,’ commented another.

A third added: “Oh, they are so funny and completely gorgeous,”

Cuddly Noah was dozing at a sanctuary belonging to the Wombat Awareness Organisation for animals unable to be released back into the wild.

According to Brigette Stevens, Founding Director of Wombat Awareness Organisation (which is a sanctuary that allows unreleased wombats), the animals live in Wombat Awareness Organisation’s sanctuary.

“It’s also the only sanctuary for free-range wombats, so they can choose to live in the house or outside their burrows.

What are WOMBATS?

The Australian Wombat is a short-legged marsupial that lives in the bush.

With their powerful claws and rodent-like front teeth, wombats dig large burrow systems.

The pouch has a rearward facing side so it can dig without accumulating soil.

Even though they are usually nocturnal, wombats can still venture outside to get their food on overcast or cool days.

The distinctive cube-shaped faeces of Wombats are stackable to identify territories and attract their mates.

Wombats are herbivores that eat grasses, roots and bark.

Marsupials are a gentle, independent species that prefers being left alone. However they can get vicious when threatened.
