Barack Obama, former President, said that Michelle encouraged him to spend more time listening to Bruce Springsteen so he could reflect on his failings and flaws.

Obama stated Monday in a CBS interview that he was getting to know Bruce Springsteen while he was learning about him. His wife told him, “You need to spend more with Bruce.” 

“Well, why’s that ?”’?” Obama replied. Obama recounted. 

She said, “You know what, he understands all of his failings and flaws, and you don’t seem to understand as well how messed-up you are.”

Obama responded, “You’re correct.” No doubt.’

Michelle and Barack Obama first met in 1989 while they were working in Chicago at a law office. They got married three years later.

Springsteen and Obama have teamed up to produce a podcast, and a forthcoming book, “Renegades: Born In the USA.” 

The former president and the rocker reflected on their views of themselves as outsiders. Springsteen warned people that they will feel disaffected by technological or social changes. Obama said that change is occurring too fast for many Americans in the US. 

“And Donald Trump, you know, had the cynicism as well as the carny ability. If you can’t find ways to engage many people who are disaffected, then we’re going into serious trouble. Whether it’s by technological change, whether it’s by the post-industrialization,’ Springsteen said. 

Obama stated, “Bruce is right.” On the one hand, you have rapid, but too slow, change for large portions of the population. Another portion of the population feels like “You know, how much longer are we going to have to delay this dream?”

“And I think that part what we tried to accomplish in the podcast was to get everybody to recognize our own faults.

Springsteen propagated the idea that ‘critical patriotism’ was a theme in his 1984 hit, ‘Born in the USA. It was about a Vietnam veteran returning home to poor circumstances and little opportunity. 

“I had ‘Born in the USA.,’ which — a song I wrote. That was misinterpreted on many different levels. It basically implied that you can love and be a part of the same nation that you can be deeply critical and feel has disappointed.

On Tuesday, ‘Renegades’: Born in America, the book of dialogue by Springsteen & Obama will be released. 

CBS interviewed the musician, who said that he hopes to be on the road again in the next year, and that he wants to keep making new music. 

“I’m going to make a better record, play better tours, and play better shows. He said that he was always there for him.
