After weighing in at over 18st, a young woman experienced joint pain, heartburn and high blood pressure. She has now revealed the results of her 6t weight loss.
Evie Nagy, an advertisement and marketing manager, wanted to lose weight last year after struggling to do everyday tasks.
After suffering an injury, the 28-year old gained weight and was 116kg (or 18st 2lb) by January 2020.
Despite numerous lockdowns, Evie stuck to a plan developed by an Olympian. In 15 months, she lost more than 6st and no longer takes blood pressure medication.

Evie was determined to change her life and signed up at Roar Fitness, a gym run by Sarah Lindsay.
Roar is a simple concept: Participants eat three high-nutrient, high-protein meals per meal, with healthy snacks. They also lift heavy weights under superfit trainers.
Roar promises you the body of dreams in just 12 weeks.
Evie, a petite 5ft3ins tall, said to MailOnline: “I was really unhealthy when my journey began; I was very overweight, and I was taking blood pressure medication that was directly tied to my weight.
“My diet used to be just everything in large quantities. I’d make everything from scratch but it would be a lot of pasta, a lot of wine, crisps, chocolate – all of it.
“You don’t need to be a meat-eater or vegetarian. There are plenty of meat substitutes.
‘I also have a family history of problems including arthritis and I had to do everything in my power to not let that become my future.’
So she gave up junk food and wine for a year and decided to try the new diet.
“When I signed up for the plan, I thought, there’s not much to complain, I can’t get it. I’m an all or nothing person so as soon I started, I was able shut it off – no junk food for a year and half.
“I loved it. But, I experienced withdrawal symptoms when I stopped eating sugar and carbs. I also suffered from severe headaches.
“I didn’t miss any food. I was so happy that I followed a plan and knew that I could return to chocolate, it wouldn’t be gone forever. I stopped eating chocolate for over a year and half. Wine was reserved for special occasions.
“I don’t know how I would have done if we weren’t in lockdown but I work in a very social industry. But when Boris ruined Christmas, I cracked – it drove me to a G&T.
“Now my thighs don’t rub and I feel healthier. Even just moving around is easier. I could feel it in my joints when i was a size 18-20. Now, I am a size 12-14.

Tom Paulson, Roar personal training instructor, put Evie through her paces.
Evie attended 12 gym sessions, but lockdown began in March 2020. She was following a diet plan, walking her dog, and aiming for 10,000 steps per day.
She added: ‘As soon as we were allowed back in gyms, I was there. I would be in the gym that morning, as the government would lift restrictions on Monday. We focused on the lower body or the lower body, alternately one hour each time.
After suffering an injury at university, Evie was motivated to lose weight.
She said: ‘I grew up doing ballet followed by a degree in musical theatre so I was always active until my early 20s, when I tore ligaments in my ankle – then it went downhill and I put on weight, very quickly.
“Between January 2020 and November 2019, I convinced myself that I could not lose weight.
‘I was watching the TV show House one evening and they diagnosed someone with Cushing’s disease and I convinced myself that I had it – I had some of the symptoms, and even went to hospital and had loads of tests done.
“I had gained 8kg in the past two months. But all the tests came back negative, and I was like c**p, I’m just fat.’
Evie is now focusing on maintaining her slim figure and trying out new exercises.
‘I aim to do at least 10,000 steps per day and to go to the gym. I am currently trying to learn more about nutrition and exercise.
‘I make sure that I get enough protein since I’m a vegetarian. I started an Instagram account to help others.
‘I eat balanced meals, and really just practice listening to hunger cues and mindful eating – which can be easier said than done.
‘When I was doing Roar, I ate 1,500-1.700 calories each day. I don’t calorie count anymore, which can be stressful without the structure of accountability. However, I try to be mindful and remind my self that I don’t need another piece of toast.
“My plan was to get down to size 12, which I did. Then, I would keep that for one year and see if I want it to shrink.
“I need a new wardrobe for winter, as I have only size 18 clothes.
“I stopped taking blood pressure medication as it fell to a normal range. It makes moving around so much easier. I feel a lot better and no longer have heartburn.
The 28-year old now lives a healthier life without any medication
The marketing manager was also given a high-protein diet to follow, in addition to weight lifting.
Evie added: ‘I don’t miss anything now, I have it regularly, but listen to my body. If I really want it, there is chocolate in my house.
“I would definitely do this program again and would recommend it to anyone who needs a major life change, like me.
“I also lost a few people that I loved to Covid; it forces you to think about underlying health conditions. It made people realize that they are more mortal than their minds allow.
“I’m making every effort to give myself the best foundation for my future.”
