Starbucks employees put a dog biscuit in the cup of coffee that a French bulldog owner had purchased. The dog died from heartbroken.

Megan Harrison visited Starbucks Festival Park, Stoke on Trent back in September. She bought the treat, which consisted of a cup full of whipped cream, to take home for her three dogs. Staff topped them off with Bonio biscuits.

Bonnie, who was 18 weeks old at the time, had just finished her 18-week-old version. Bonnie was found dead and cannot be revived.

Ms Harrison, a support worker, said that she was ‘devastated” over Bonnie’s passing and ‘absolutely disgusted by Starbucks’ response.

Starbucks stated that they were’really sad’ to hear Megan’s news and that the Starbucks UK menu does not include puppuccinos.

Although they admitted that dog biscuits were not often available, the chain claimed that Megan asked their staff if Megan would like one.

Bonio manufacturer Purina said the health and wellbeing of pets is their ‘number one priority’ and that they don’t supply dog biscuits to restaurants and cafés.

Ms Harrison, Crewe East, stated that the experience was so heartbreaking that she won’t be able to forget it. She was so funny, kind, and had a huge personality.

“I had no choice but to hand-rear her as a newborn. She looked up to me as her mother, and I did everything for him.

“She’s had them.” [cream-only puppuccinos]Before. Bonnie and I would go to Starbucks alone. It used to be a treat for us to do this as a treat. It was the first time it had a biscuit.

“I didn’t watch her every second because she had them before and it wasn’t an issue. But there was never a biscuit in there.” [on previous occasions].

Ms Harrison claimed Bonnie was in the kitchen when the whipped cream was made, while she was in open-plan living space.

She also mentioned that Bonnie had previously enjoyed biscuits at her home and puppuccinos for a treat so she wouldn’t have to watch her every second.

‘She had the puppuccino, ate the biscuit, went to go and get a drink of water and then she lay in her bed and obviously that’s when she died, she choked but it was silent,’ Ms Harrison said.

“My partner’s sister found her. I was so shocked that I just fell to the floor when she saw me. I didn’t know how to proceed.

“Her tongue was out, her eyes were open, and I knew she’d gone.

Ms Harrison’s companion contacted Starbucks to tell them about Bonnie’s passing.

She stated that she and her husband wanted to make sure it didn’t happen to other dogs. After what happened to us, I wouldn’t want it to happen to anyone else. It was heartbreaking.

“I’ve spoken with Starbucks and to be completely honest, I’m disgusted by them.

“It wasn’t like “Oh, I’m really sorry this happened”; it felt more like “I’m really sorry, but what can we do?”

“That’s all they seemed to care about, and it angered my so much.

“They shouldn’t have biscuits in theirs anyway, a poduccino is just meant for a cup of whipped milk.”

Ms Harrison said she was offered a £250 gift card, but feels she wasn’t given a sincere apology.

She said, “When she died, my mental health plummeted.”

‘I tried telling Starbucks this but all they offered me was a £250 gift card and I’m not being funny but she’s worth more than £250 worth of coffee.

“I emailed them back, saying that I don’t want a store gift card because I’m not going be a customer again. It’s pointless ”.’.

Ms Harrison, a support services worker, said she was 'devastated' over Bonnie's death and 'absolutely disgusted' by Starbucks' response

Ms. Harrison, a support worker, said that she was ‘devastated” over Bonnie’s passing and ‘absolutely disgusted by Starbucks’ response.

Starbucks spokeswoman said: “Our partners (employees), were really upset to learn about the customer’s loss, but the customer and her dogs have been well-loved in the store.

Starbucks UK does not offer a Starbucks UK official item, the “Puppuccinos”. We offer a free item if customers request it.

Purina stated that they would like to send their condolences to the dog’s owners.

“We are aware that losing a pet in any circumstance is devastating. Our number one priority is the health and well-being of our pets.

‘We don’t supply dog biscuits to restaurants and cafés and we would not recommend serving treats to pets in a way that leaves owners unable to see the feeding guidelines on pack.

“This guidance tells the owner whether a particular snack is safe for their pet.
