It is not the first instance of a dog adopting three kittens from an orphan after losing their own puppies.
In September 2020, footage showed Georgia, German Shepherd-mix, caring for the kittens like they are her own young.
Volunteers from Sunshine Dog Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona found Georgia after she had survived on scraps at the border with Mexico.
The dog was already pregnant when she was adopted by the non-profit organization. However, her puppies were prematurely born on August 13th and all of them died.
After losing her puppies, an abandoned German Shepherd-mix adopted three kittens from a foster family.
Anita Osa was the founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue and introduced Georgia to a litter with orphaned kittens.
Anita spoke out about Georgia’s reaction when she lost her puppies. It was so tragic, she was searching for those babies.
She recalled that she had ripped up the toddler mattress she was sleeping on to try to find her babies.
Footage showed Georgia (pictured here with one of her kittens), who was rescued by Sunshine Dog Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona, in July. After surviving on scraps close to the US-Mexico border, she cared for the kittens like she were her own young.

Anita explained that Georgia was her choice to be introduced to the kittens.
“I introduced the kittens gently to her,” she said. “I brought one in, let her sniff it, and she liked it so I brought more.
“It was amazing to watch Georgia instantly calm down. And I think for the kittens they don’t know that she’s a dog.
