This photo shows a father-daughter couple who were attacked and killed at their North London home.

Fernanda Assis, 31, and her father Joanilason Assis, 61, were found with multiple stab wounds at a property in Wood Green, London, just after 9.30am on November 28.

Paramedics tried their best to save both of the victims but they were declared dead on the spot.

On November 30, 52-year-old Achilleas Cosa, from no fixed address was arrested and charged with two counts each of murder.

He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on December 1 and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on February 18.

According to reports at the time, Costa was known to have been in a relationship with Fernanda.

Fernanda is described in tributes as “friendly” and “bubbly”. Her father was believed to be deaf.

She is said to have moved out of London with her mother and wasn’t at Wood Green when the incident occurred.

Fernanda was a friend of the shopkeeper, who said that she knew Fernanda well. She was friendly, bubbly and would always talk to her customers.

She was a familiar face to everyone, and would often stop by the shop. Although I had only seen her father twice, I did not know him very well. But she was always there.

“She lived a hard life. Her mother was blind and her father was ill. Her father was blind, and she needed assistance. She would go to the other side of them to take care.

An anonymous woman living in the vicinity said that it was “a shock” and she lives here with her children. Although I did not know them personally, they seemed to be private individuals.

The pair were found unresponsive in a property on Mayes Road in Wood Green, north London

Both were discovered unresponsive by a Wood Green resident at Mayes Road, in north London. 

“I know she looked after him. He was deaf.

Metropolitan Police spokesperson previously stated: “Police were dispatched to Mayes Road in N22 at 09:37 hours on Sunday 28 November after there were concerns for their welfare.

‘On arrival, they found two people – 61-year-old Joanilason Assis and his 31-year-old daughter Fernanda Assis – with stab wounds. 

“The London Ambulance Service was summoned and the victims were declared dead on arrival.

“Their next of Kin have been informed and are being supported in this matter by specialists officers.”

Claire Hine was Detective Chief Inspector. She previously stated that their thoughts were with the loved ones who are struggling to cope with an unbearable loss.

“We will provide all support possible to them.

“We think the victims were acquainted with the man in custody. While the investigation is still early, we have confidence that we will not be looking for more suspects. There is also no ongoing risk to the safety of members of the general public.
