What is the worst Instagram photo?

There are so many candidates for this highly sought-after title that I am surprised there isn’t a Shameful Selfie awards ceremonies. Not least because all the perpetrators would certainly attend ‘for gram’ due to their shocking lack of self-awareness.

You could lower the winners by opening a trapdoor on the stage to a pool full of hungry sharks, and they would still consider it a price worth paying to go viral.

The website “Runt Of The Web”, a popular humor site, records the most outrageous outrages on Instagram.

As the saying goes: “What happens when you combine unbridled arrogance with unyielding foolishness and millions of teenagers who are eager to document every moment of your life?” These are the worst Instagram photos.

Their list of shame includes a photo showing a grim-faced elderly lady lying in a hospital room, being plied with $100 bills by her grandchildren.

“My sister, I visited my Nana at #stanfordhospital,” says the caption. “Making it rain with #hundreds” is another caption.

The poor woman doesn’t look happy at all – she looks horrified.

Other photos on the list include a young lady posting a photo showing her openly bleeding leg after she was knifed in an argument.

Ironically, it’s those letters “lol” that make one laugh out loud, but not in hilarity but in shocked revulsion.

What's been the worst photo you've seen on Instagram? There are so many candidates for this coveted title that I'm only surprised there isn't now a Shameful Selfie awards ceremony, not least because all the perpetrators would definitely attend 'for the gram' such is their shocking lack of self-awareness. But nothing quite prepared me for a series of eight truly shocking images posted on Instagram by Jayne Rivera, a 20-year-old fitness model and 'influencer' from Miami, Florida, of herself preening away in a figure-hugging plunging neckline black suit style mini-dress, stockings and boots, in front of her dead father's open coffin

What is the worst Instagram photo? There are so many people who could be considered for this coveted title, I’m surprised that there’s not a Shameful Selfie awards event. This is due to the fact that all the perpetrators would likely attend ‘for Instagram’ because of their shocking lack self-awareness. Nothing prepared me for the eight shocking Instagram images by Jayne Rivera (20-year-old fitness model from Miami, Florida) of herself in a figure-hugging, plunging neckline, black suit style mini-dress, boots, and in front of her father’s open coffin.

Rivera has 84,800 Instagram followers, and 307,000 on Tik-Tok. So, she is a popular 'influencer.' But it would be fair to say her ghoulish photos went down like a cup of cold vomit, even among her biggest fans

One fan said that it was 'the most horrific Instagram post' they'd ever seen. I agree. There's something so utterly and repellently distasteful about a young woman exploiting her father's dead body for 'likes' as he literally lies dead behind her

Rivera has 84.800 Instagram followers and 307,000 Tik-Tok users. Rivera is a popular influencer’. Her ghoulish photos are so popular that even her biggest fans were unable to stop laughing at them. One commented, “Jayne, delete these photos, and apologize for your lackof discretion. Or I will stop following, and I hope other people will do the same.” This is a hard task to follow. One other said, ‘God bless that man’s soul. Others called her’sick’ and vile and ‘disgusting. One person said it was the’most horrific Instagram post they’d ever seen’. I agree. It’s so disgusting that a young woman uses her father’s corpse for her ‘likes’, even though he literally lies behind her.

Further investigation revealed that a woman was trampling on rare and expensive plants in a conservatory despite being repeatedly asked to stop by furious staff.

Another posted a photo showing herself in a bikini and rice field, with the words: “Thinking about the difference in my life from the man picking rice every morning.”

A third shared a photo of her in a leotard, bending herself into shapes at Berlin Holocaust memorial. The caption read: “Yoga is connection to everything around us.”

This is unusual, you say?

Auschwitz Memorial asked visitors to refrain from posting photos of themselves on the railway tracks leading to the slaughter of millions of Jews.

Some influencers – the word used for those Instagram users whose antics and post ‘inspire’ others – will even risk their own death ‘for the gram’.

After a couple who was backpacking in Sri Lanka posted photos of themselves kissing while they were riding on one of the country’s famous speeding “blue trains”, officials from Sri Lanka issued a warning.

Others are happy to take over terrible disasters, even if it exposes their hot bodies and promotes their products.

After last year’s catastrophic Malibu fires, a host of Instagram influencers posted photos of themselves wearing very little clothing and promoting their wares to…ahem…. ‘Show Support’ is an acronym that means to show support, and ensure maximum attention for their self-promotion through a host of hashtags related to fire.

Many of these selfish wastrels were brought down by the coronavirus pandemic. They raced to post photos of their own partying and disregarding rules while everyone else was in jail.

Some influencers are just plain creepy such as the Ingham family, with over 1.2 million followers. They sell life-like replica dolls of their four-month old baby Jace.

Many celebrities are also shameless when it comes virtue-signalling.

Kim Kardashian and Emily Radajowski posted topless photos of bird-flipping to promote feminism. Kim’s sister Kendall Jenner ‘ended cop brutality’ with that infamous Pepsi commercial Instagram photo. Bernice King, daughter Martin Luther King Jr., shared her iconic photo of her father facing the police during an American Civil Rights Movement with the sarcastic caption, ‘If only Daddy knew about the power and #Pepsi.

Yes, there are many people who could be considered for the worst Instagram posts, but most of them are guilty if the most indecent and inappropriate ‘flarnecking.’ This wonderful 19th-century English word means ‘vulgar flaunting or shameless ostentation.

Nothing prepared me for the eight shocking Instagram images of Jayne Rivera, a Miami-based fitness model and ‘influencer’, of her preening in a figure-hugging mini-dress with a plunging neckline and black stockings, boots, and in front of her father’s open coffin.

Her caption read, “Butterfly fly Away,” ‘Rip Papi you were my best friend. A life well lived.

She’s seen in the pictures smiling, praying and posing like she’s on a movie premiere catwalk, showing off for the paparazzi.

Rivera has 84 800 Instagram followers and 307,000 Tik-Tok users.

She is therefore a well-known ‘influencer.

It would be fair to say that her ghoulish photos were a cup of cold vomit even among her most loyal fans.

One commented, “Jayne! Please delete these photos and apologise for your lack discretion. Or I will stop following You and I hope you will do so to others.”

“This is a difficult task to follow.” God rest that man’s heart,’ said another.

Others accused her as’sick’ and vile.

One person said it was “the most horrifying Instagram post” they’d ever seen.

I agree.

It’s so disgusting that a young woman uses her father’s corpse for her ‘likes’, as he literally lies behind her.

Jose Antonio Rivera (56), was a war vet whose heroic service to his country demanded that his funeral be met with the greatest respect and dignity.

Instead, he became an unreliable tool for a daughter who was obsessed with social media and seeking praise from strangers.

Rivera, astonishingly, doubled down on her abominable behavior despite the horrible backlash she received for posting.

Yesterday, she said to NBC News that although she understood the negative reception, she believed the photos were taken with the best intentions. She also stated that her father would have approved of the photos if he was still alive.

REALLY?

Rivera explained her absurd reasoning: “I have worked extremely hard for 8 long years building my audience. People who are not inside the book’s pages don’t take the time to read the deeper meanings and intentions. I stand by what I posted. There is nothing wrong with it.

Oh pur-lease.

We all judge this book by its cover, as there is nothing unclear or difficult to understand about it.

What could be the ‘underlying meaning’ of such a shockingly offensive and inappropriate imagery?

Rivera’s Instagram account was suspended as the furore grew, for reasons that left her baffled – ‘no community guidelines were broken when the pictures were published,’ she insisted – and haven’t yet been explained by the social media platform.

Rivera’s Instagram account was suspended as the furore grew, for reasons that left her baffled – ‘no community guidelines were broken when the pictures were published,’ she insisted – and haven’t yet been explained by the social media platform. However, as with all things posted and then deleted online they are now cemented into cyberspace infamy, reserving Rivera an exclusive place in hellish hashtaghistory.

The wider, gullible public has not been adequately informed about the increasingly sinister alliance between Instagram influencers with Instagram’s owners, including Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg.

Instagram wants to increase traffic to its site in order to raise advertising rates, which account for most of its $20bn annual revenue.

It will need influencers who will use the site frequently. To persuade them to do so, they will need to make them money.

Zuckerberg stated at Instagram’s first-ever Creator Week that his goal was to provide the best platform for creators to make their living.

But where is the moral or ethical bar for creating such content?

Jayne Rivera would call herself a content creator. She makes money from many posts she writes about brands she promotes.

Did she make a buck from the designers of the clothes that she was wearing for these horrible photos? It shouldn’t surprise me. It’s her business.

But, did Instagram make any money before she was suspended?

Yes. They gained huge traffic after people became aware of them.

For advertisers, traffic is the currency of Instagram.

Rivera’s photos have been posted online and then deleted, so they are cemented in cyberspace infamy. This gives her a special place among hellish hashtag history.

We’ve all done stupid things on Instagram.

I once posted a weird photo of myself in a flimsy gown on a hospital bed, tubes all over my face, minutes after coming round from a gastroscopy – but in that case my inhibitions were severely reduced by anaesthetic.

(Memo to self: never take your phone into an operating theatre…)

However, I find it impossible to believe that I would ever pose in front a parent’s coffin to get ‘likes’ or ‘clout’ on Instagram.

So why did she do that?

Addiction is the answer.

Ms Rivera is so inseparable from the social media world, which is often absurdly fake and self-obsessed that she can’t see any humane wood for the inhumane ones.

I don’t hate her, but I do feel sorry for her.

It is a shocking breakdown of values to seek the validation of tens or thousands of complete strangers.

Rivera told NBC that everyone deals with the loss of a loved person in their own way.

Yes, it’s true.

But who the f*ck uses their father’s corpse for ‘likes’?

Someone who is in urgent need of a lesson on civility.

To borrow the preferred buzzword of Instagram Influencers when commenting about something that makes their skin crawl: yeeesh.
