Gulp! Gulp!

  • Footage shows pike eating a ruddy whole in Budel, Netherlands
  • The live fish begins lengthways in the jaws and wriggles and flaps.
  • Pike then puffs in as it prepares for swallowing the entire rudd.

This is the moment when a pike attacks another fish and swallows it whole.

The pike is seen holding another fish in its jaws in footage taken in Budel (Netherlands).

The unfortunate fish appears to be alive as its tail and fin can be seen moving, even though the carnivorous fish is turning it around to swallow him head first.

Filming begins with the smaller fish, identified as a Rudd by the filmmaker, being held in the jaws.

The pike chews on the head of the copper-coloured fish and clenches its jaws.

The pike continues to attack the fish and the fish wiggles, preparing to eat the rest.

Pike is a large fish that can grow to over a metre long and can be found in lakes or slow-flowing rivers.

It can also be found in waterways with lots of vegetation.

Pikes leapt out of the water with incredible speed to catch fish, frogs or ducklings.

Another pike was found last year with a large fish in its stomach, proving that there is no fish too big to be eaten by a pike.

Three fishermen found a northern pike and caught more than they thought on New Year’s Day 2020.

Roger, Andy, Jeremiah and Jeremiah landed the large fish in the Mississippi in Lacrosse. They decided to fillet the fish.

One of the men noticed the pike start to move after they had sliced its flesh.

They were shocked to see a perch emerge from the water.

Even though the perch was eaten by the pike, it was still alive and flapping on the table.

The pike, having swallowed the whole perch, must still be hungry after it grabbed that line.
