Primerk shoppers stopped a man from fleeing after he took photos of the woman’s skirt in a packed store.
The 20-year-old woman was waiting in a queue at the Princes Quay shop with her younger sister to pay when she felt something brush against her thigh on March 8, 2020, Hull Magistrates’ Court heard.
Kevin Syder (55), was captured taking photos by shoppers, who raised alarm.
Syder from South Bridge Road Hull attempted to flee but was stopped at the border by security.
Syder was taken into custody by police who also seized Syder’s mobile phone.

Colette Dixon, Prosecutor: “The complainant was a twenty-year old female and she was going shopping with her sixteen-year-old sibling at that time.
“While waiting in line, she felt something touch her right upper right leg.”
‘At the time she didn’t think anything of it because there were a large amount of items close by and the area was crowded.
‘She claims that it was quite busy in the store around lunchtime, and she was just waiting for her sister to pay.
“Another woman shopper noticed a man with a cell phone hidden under her skirt. He alerted her, and she immediately turned to face him.
“She experienced a sudden freeze in her body, and was very upset. She has had trouble recalling what transpired afterward.”
When she felt something touch her leg, the 20-year old woman (pictured above) was in line at Princes Quay Shop with her younger sister.
Court heard from the victim that she became very agitated, and asked for help from fellow shoppers.
Syder was attempting to leave the scene, but was stopped from leaving by shoppers. After that, he was taken into custody.
Syder refused to speak when Syder was interviewed by officers.
Syder’s victim spoke of the trauma that the incident had caused and her anger at not being able to feel safe when out on a shopping trip.
Mrs Dixon stated that she felt violated and was very upset during the entire episode.
“She stated that she was wearing skirt and tights, and she shouldn’t be afraid of being photographed by someone else when she goes out.
She said that she has been feeling extremely down ever since and that she takes it with her everywhere she goes.

“She stated that she wanted the police to do positive actions, and I should be free to shop without fear.
The court heard that Syder was a man of previously good character with no previous convictions to his name.
He admitted to recording an image under the clothes of another person in the intent of looking at it for sexual gratification.
Syder will face a sentence at Hull Crown Court in January 12.
His unconditional bail was granted.
