Two monkeys who allegedly killed 250 dogs in an Indian village by dropping them from trees and buildings, and dragging them up to their deaths have been arrested.      

Footage captures the furious primates in prison after vicious revenge attacks by a pack dogs on one of their infant monkeys.

Panic-stricken residents have also come under attack in the villages of Majalgaon and nearby Lavul in Maharashtra’s Beed district. 

They were taken by the local forestry department to Nagpur and will then be released into a new part of forest.

The monkeys were captured by the regional forestry department and are set to be taken to Nagpur, where they will be released in a different part of the forest

Reports from villagers have indicated that monkeys were setting up Before taking dogs to the top, either a structure or a tree, and dropping them to their graves, they must be notified of them as soon as possible.

According to reports, 250 dogs were killed this way in the past month.

According to India’s News18 website, ‘not a single pup’ was left in Lavul where even school children are being chased and attacked.

The attacks were confirmed by pictures published in Indian media. One picture shows a monkey on top of a roof, carrying a dog to the edge.

A separate video, which may have been of the attack that started the reprisals, shows dogs following monkeys through a village while local children and women ran for their safety. It appeared that the dogs were protecting a child.

The village residents contacted the forest department asking for help in capturing the monkeys.

The villagers believe that the monkeys have taken revenge.

According to them, the violence started when the dogs attacked a baby monkey.

The villagers tried to rescue the dogs.   

They did not succeed, and the monkeys responded by attacking their efforts. A news report reported that several men had fallen from heights trying to rescue the dogs they were dragging there.

Monkeys, clearly not content to kill the dogs, are said now to be pursuing young children.

Reports say that monkeys have attacked schoolchildren, increasing panic among the village.

One incident saw an 8-year old boy being grabbed by monkeys and taken away. Villagers were forced to throw stones at the monkeys to keep them away.
