Prince Eugenie shows a throwback photo from her school days as she visits Marlborough College for an Anti-Slavery Collective discussion

  • Last week, Princess Eugenie (31 years old) visited Marlborough College.
  • Royal joined fellow co-founder of The Anti-Slavery Collective, Julia de Boinville
  • Chatted with students about initiative ‘and how they too can become activists’

As Princess Eugenie visited Marlborough College, Wiltshire last week, she took a nostalgic trip.

The Queen’s granddaughter, 31, joined her fellow co-founder of The Anti-Slavery Collective, Julia de Boinville, to speak with students about their initiative ‘and how they too can become activists’.

During their speech, the duo shared rare school photos, which were later shared to the organisation’s Instagram, showing them with their classmates and seemingly on a beach holiday.

The social media post comes after the royal’s father-in-law George Brooksbank died just three days before the christening of his nine-month-old grandson August – the first child of Eugenie and her husband Jack – at the All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park.

Brooksbank’s family paid respect to Etonian (72), in a note in Tuesday’s Daily Telegraph. It stated that Etonian ‘loved all good things in his life’, and most importantly, his family.

It said: “Brooksbank George. On 18th November, he died. He loved all things good in life, but was especially fond of his wife, sons, and daughters-in law, as well as his grandchildren. Details to come. Private cremation for family members.

This poignant mention of grandchildren is made after Jack Brooksbank (the father Eugenie) was able see baby August who was born February.

But Mr Brooksbank, who had been ill for some time, tragically died in the run-up to the family gathering on Sunday. Brooksbank is said to never have fully understood the meaning of life. After contracting coronavirus in 2013, I was able to recover.

It was confirmed that George Brooksbank, pictured with wife Nicola at Jack and Eugenie's wedding, died last week. He had battled Covid on a ventilator last year

George Brooksbank (pictured right, with his wife Nicola, at Jack and Eugenie’s wedding) died last week. After battling Covid last year, he was placed on a ventilator and survived. He met his grandson August in February.

August was baptized with Lucas, his second cousin and son of Mike, in Windsor, in a rare royal double christening. The Queen attended, as she has been resting for more than one month.

It is unclear when exactly Eugenie’s visit to Marlborough College took place last week.

The images from the event were posted to Instagram yesterday with the caption: ‘Last week our co-founders, HRH @princesseugenie and Julia de Boinville, visited their old school Marlborough College to speak to the students about the work we do at The Anti-Slavery Collective and how they too can become activists.’

The photo of Eugenie with her full fringe is one that shows the classmates and their friends on picture day.

Second photo shows Eugenie smiling and Julia looking at each other in close-up. It was taken on what looks like a beach.

Eugenie, who was a Marlborough College student from 2003-2008, returned to Marlborough College in 2018 to inaugurate its new Memorial Hall.
