Priti Patel, Home Secretary, orders ‘woken’ police forces to stop recording offences in the female crime statistics.

  • Home Office officials work with police to ensure more accurate records
  • The ban comes in the wake of cases in which violent and sexual offences by males who claim to be female were recorded as being committed orally by women
  • Official responses to feminist campaigners revealed the change

Home Secretary Priti Patel has ordered ‘woke’ police forces to stop recording offences by trans women in female crime statistics.

Home Office officials are working with police forces on a new procedure for officers to record the sex of criminals to ensure crime statistics are ‘more accurate’.

The ban was prompted by cases in which violent and sexual offences committed by males who identify themselves as females were recorded by women. Officials are concerned that this practice may be affecting official data.

Priti Patel has set the ban on police forces which stops them recording offences, committed by trans women, in female crime statistics

Priti Patel has placed a ban on police officers which prevents them from recording offences committed by trans women in female crime statistics.

The Mail on Sunday reported earlier this year on Zoe Watts’ case. She was being held for a variety of offenses, including building an improvised weapon bomb.

Watts was born as a man, but identifies himself as a woman.

Lincolnshire Police identified the crime as being committed in a woman and will include it in national female crime figures.

Research suggests that current practice is skewing statistics about traditionally male crimes like rape.

Earlier this year, The Mail on Sunday highlighted the case of Zoe Watts, who was jailed for a string of offences including building an improvised bomb - but Lincolnshire Police recorded the crimes as being committed by a woman, even though Watts was born male (and identifies as a woman)

The Mail on Sunday reported earlier this year on Zoe Watts’ case. Watts was sentenced for a series of offences, including building an improvised explosive bomb. However, the Lincolnshire Police recorded that the crimes were committed by a woman even though Watts was born a man and identifies as a female.

While rape is a crime in law, only a man can commit it. Professor Alice Sullivan, University College London, has shown that 436 of the 436 people who were convicted of rape were women.

The Home Office confirmed to us that police forces will receive new instructions for recording criminals’ sex more accurately.

Official responses to feminist campaigners asking for a change in the rules revealed that the change had been made.
