The Countdown feud between Rachel Riley and Anne Robinson looks like it will heat up, as Pasha Kovalev (the former) prepares to have their second child.

According to some reports, Riley (maths genius) has indicated that she intends to breastfeed her second child on the set. Robinson, however, was previously reported to have muted her microphone after she became tired of Robinson talking to contestants.

The Sun reports that Riley – who shares 18-month-old Maven with Kovalev – said: ‘When you have a newborn, and especially when you have a toddler as well, you don’t have time for a shower.’

Her January return to Countdown was also mentioned by her: “So when I go back to work, someone will pay me to do my hair and makeup.”  

“You aren’t recognizable the first time that you come back, because you’re in mother mode and haven’t washed hair in a while.”

Rachel said that Rachel will bring her newborn to the studio. The Sun also noted Rachel will probably ‘feed the baby’ during breaks.

On Thursday, it was reported that Riley threatened to quit Countdown if Robinson wasn’t disciplined for muting the microphone in secret backstage tensions.

Following irritation at the Weakest link host’s talk, she allegedly shut off her costar’s microphone. 

According to an insider, Anne and Rachel had been at odds for quite some time. Rachel decided enough was enough. Anne has been musing about her a lot and she even suggested that she might walk away from Countdown if things weren’t resolved.

Sources said Rachel’s maternity break couldn’t have been more timely as tensions continued on the show.

According to an insider, Rachel simply wants to feel more respected and is expecting this when she films again.  

“No one wants Rachel to go because Rachel is a show-stopper and brings glamour, fun, and maths to the table.

Susie Dent from Dictionary Corner, 56, is said to have supported Rachel in the spat.
