A “real-life barber” who attacked NHS nurses over hospital visiting hours during the coronavirus pandemic was spared jail.

Kerry Miles (37), hurled a computer and a monitor at one NHS worker. Then, he punched a nurse in her chest on an old peoples’ ward.

The mother-of-one has previously hit headlines after boasting about spending nearly £300,000 on plastic surgery to transform herself into a ‘Barbie doll’.

After she was convicted of assaulting emergency workers, Miles received a suspended 16 week sentence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.

Miles became agitated while visiting Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford (Essex) on August 26, 2020. Her grandmother was a patient there.

Staff advised Miles to schedule another visit time because of Covid restrictions. Miles instead lobbed a laptop at one nurse and folders at another, injuring her shoulder.

Miles then punched a nurse in the chest and drove her car carelessly towards a security officer who tried to photograph Miles’ number plate before she left hospital.

The court heard from Isobelle, a ward sibling, who saw the carnage unfold after she tried to negotiate with Miles about a better time to visit.

After Miles threw his laptop at her, she left her with bruises.  A trial heard that Miles launched into a tirade against Ms Dobson.

‘She called me a s**t, she called me a s**g, told me to f**k off and said I was rude… I was very intimidated. I didn’t know what to do.

“Then, she picked up a file and it hit me on my right forearm. I received a large, black bruise on my arm.   

The junior sister, who is an experienced one, wept last month as she testified at Colchester Magistrates Court.

‘I do remember her calling me a w***e and a s**g. When I heard the doors of the ward shut I was so relieved’, she added.

Miles claimed she was attacked by staff and that she acted in self defense using her martial arts training. She said that she felt vulnerable to being sexually or physically assaulted and could be trapped or detained against their will.

Miles was found guilty of three counts of assaulting an emergency worker, as well as criminal damage and careless driving

“I am constantly reminded what happened, so I have had no choice but to stop seeing friends. I am afraid I will be assaulted again by the defendant.

“I am scared and feel so alone, it has made me struggle to get to work. 

Ms. Dobson is a dedicated NHS worker and revealed she had been missing shifts.

“I am always looking over my shoulder. I have thought about quitting my job. I believe this experience will stay with my for the rest of life.

Miles was convicted last month of three counts each of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.

Today, she was sentenced today to 16 weeks imprisonment, with a suspended term of one year. She was also ordered to pay £1,370, which included £620 court costs, £250 in criminal damage compensation for Broomfield Hospital, and £500 in victim surcharge.

Margaret Macallan, chair of the Bench, stated that this was an assault in which weapons were used around vulnerable persons.

“It was during a global pandemic, when national visiting hours were limited. 

Luke Jaques stated that Miles had been diagnosed with autism recently and that she suspected she had ADHD.

He said, “She accepts that her emotions weren’t managed in the right way.”
