Sarah Jessica Parker responded to criticisms about her and other cast members’ ageing looks on the Sex and the City reboot.

The star, who is naturally silver-streaked, was snapped in July enjoying lunch with Andy Cohen (53), while she took a break to shoot scenes for the revival series.  

”’Gray hair gray hair gray hair. Do you think she has gray hair? Sarah said, “I am sitting with Andy Cohen and he has full-length gray hair. He’s beautiful.” It’s okay to him.

People, I don’t even know what to say! Particularly when it comes to social media. Everyone has something they can say. She has too many wrinkles.

Then she said, “It almost feels that people don’t want us perfectly happy with where we’re at the moment, as though they enjoy our pain and being imperfect. It doesn’t matter if we age naturally or not. Or if you choose to do something to make you feel better.

“I’m aware of what my body looks like. There is no other choice. How can I stop it happening? Do you want to stop ageing? Do you want to disappear?     

“Just Like That” is a new chapter in Sex and the City. It follows Carrie Parker, Miranda Nixon (Cynthia Nixon), 54, and Charlotte Kristin Davis, 56. They continue to be friends from their 30s through the more complex reality and friendship of their 50s.

Michael Patrick King, Vogue’s executive producer, also spoke out about the reactions of fans to their age. “We announced And Just Like That… but we received a lot positive reactions. However, one negative response was the sharing of photos of the Golden Girls online.

“I was thinking, “Wow, it seems like you could be 35 years old, or that you live in Florida as a retired person. It’s missing a chapter.

Cynthia explained, ‘I like that we’re not trying to youthify the show. “We’re not including like a 21 year-old niece. 

New staff writer Samantha Irby told the magazine, ‘I think it’s revolutionary to do a show about middle-aged women, with their aging lady bodies.’

Sarah spoke briefly about Kim Cattrell and Samantha Jones’s absence. Kim, who is 65 years old, decided to not return for the revival after many years of fighting with Sarah.

Sarah said, “We have some new folks, but we also have some people who have moved on.”

And Just Like That…added several new cast members of color including Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman. Some criticised the original series for not being diverse. 

Sarah is an executive producer for the series. She said that it was crucial to King and her to diversify their cast. 

She stated that they were not at all interested in tokenism. You can’t have people on your show, and let the camera stay with them. All of these characters are gifts for us.

Sarah had just learned that Willie Garson (who played Carrie’s best friend on SATC/AJLT) had died. 

George Malkemus was the business partner for SJP’s actress, and she had just lost his wife to cancer.

Sarah stated that she could not speak for Sarah, but said, “It’s almost as though a scoop’ has been removed from me this week. And I don’t think it will ever be filled.” 

“In time, my body can adjust to this new architecture. But now I’m truly down.” This is such a sad loss. I can’t help but think how much I will miss these wonderful relationships. We laughed so much on the show that I often think back to it.

“And I suppose despite all that, that’s my headline: There is so much goodness in the world and we are so fortunate to have been together doing what we love.

The interview was filmed on Carrie’s one-bedroom apartment, which has been rebuilt.

Sarah shared on Instagram that Airbnb also recreated Carrie’s apartment, and that they had partnered for overnight guests.

She added a photo in which she was seen posing in Carrie’s iconic closet with the caption:  ‘And just like that…@airbnb has recreated Carrie Bradshaw’s Sex and the City apartment. It’s my pleasure to partner with them in hosting lucky guests for an overnight stay.
